Fierce wildfires have been raging across the greater Los Angeles area since Tuesday (January 7), causing widespread damage to life and property, including the loss of many music industry workers. With evacuation orders affecting nearly 180,000 residents, at least five deaths, and thousands of buildings damaged or destroyed, music industry groups are looking for ways to provide relief to affected music workers.

Listed below are some of the music organizations providing relief to industry workers in Los Angeles. We will continue to update this list as more announcements are made.

(For health alerts, evacuation updates and shelter information, check the Los Angeles County emergency website here.)

MusiCares, the Recording Academy’s philanthropic arm, said “emergency funds related to evacuation and relocation expenses, instrument replacement/repair, home damage, medical care, mental health services and other basic living needs may be considered,” according to a statement posted on social media. Long-term support. If you need immediate assistance, call the Disaster Distress Hotline at 1-800-985-5990 for free 24/7 support.

    Sweet Relief Musicians Fund

Sweet Relief Musicians Fund, a nonprofit organization that helps musicians and music industry workers in need, has launched a natural disaster relief fund for people in Los Angeles County and surrounding areas. Those seeking relief can also apply, and funds raised will be used to compensate for the loss of music-related equipment, fire-related medical expenses and other important living expenses.
