Luca Guadagnino is gearing up to explore a new take on Patrick Bateman.
The filmmaker is in final talks for a new Lionsgate film based on author Bret Easton Ellis’ 1991 novel american psychopath. The book was previously adapted into a film by director Mary Herron, starring Christian Bale and starring Bateman, which was released in theaters by Lionsgate in 2000.
Scott Z. Burns is writing the script for the project, produced by Frenesy Films, which is said to be not a remake of the first adaptation, but a take on the novel New interpretation. Pressman Films’ Sam Pressman (whose father, Edward R. Pressman produced the 2000 film), is executive producing the new version.

Burns most recently created last year’s Apple TV+ series ExtrapolationThe cast includes Meryl Streep, Sienna Miller, Kit Harington, Edward Norton, Diane Lane and Daveed Diggs. Burns directs 2019 Amazon movie Report and have writing credits including The Bourne Ultimatum.
