Some new details emerge about LucasfilmStar Wars Movie project. The report comes shortly after it was announced that Simon Kinberg is developing a new trilogy of films for the studio.
There are conflicting reports about what these movies will be, with some saying it will be a continuation of the Skywalker saga while others say it won’t and that it’s a separate project from the previously announced Rey Skywalker project.
Well, THR has provided an update, and whether or not this new trilogy is a direct continuation of the main saga, one thing is for sure… Disney and Lucasfilm see Daisy RidleyRey Skywalker is key to the future of the series.
Rey is reportedly expected to appear in multiple Star Wars projects, with one source saying, “She is Star Wars’ most valuable cinematic asset right now, possibly the only one in some ways.”
If that’s the case, Lucasfilm clearly has no idea what they have to work with in the Star Wars universe, which is filled with a vast universe of fan-favorite characters they could play, some of which are more popular with fans than Rey.
While I’m fine with Rey, she’s definitely not their most valuable movie asset. We know one of Rae’s upcoming movies is directed by Shameen Obaid-ChinoyThe story is said to be set 15 years after the events of The Rise of Skywalker.
However, a new writer will eventually replace Steven Knight on the project. The report also mentioned “rumors of underground Star Wars film producers vying for roles.”
“The scavenger-turned-Jedi warrior Rey played by Daisy Ridley in the final three films is key to the next iteration of the series.
“This could allow the story of Kinberg’s trilogy to develop (although it may still be in the concept stage) with Rey’s standalone film, which he is actively working on with director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. A conflict occurs.
Ridley previously said of her return, Rae said: “Honestly, I’ve had moments where I’m like, ‘I don’t know if I remember what I did. [as Rey].'”
Ridley added: “It’s really weird. I think the whole thing is going to feel so different anyway, being on a completely different team. I’m in a very different place now than I was before. I’m probably going to be an adult. Being one of the guys, in the beginning, I was the youngest person on set, which was a weird feeling.
She continued: “I have a lot of joy with these movies. Honestly, if I wasn’t excited, I wouldn’t be doing it. It feels great to be a part of it.
She spoke about her reasons for returning to the team, saying: “It wasn’t a difficult decision. I didn’t say yes right away, Casey [Kennedy] Like, “Take as long as you need.” Why wouldn’t I? [do it]? Yes, they brought division, but they also brought a lot of love and joy to a lot of people.
“It feels great to be able to continue to play a character – like, do I even remember how to play her? As an actor, it’s a great experience to go back and try to figure out what has changed for me and for her. Interesting challenge.
What are your thoughts on Lucasfilm’s possible plans for Rey and how they view her as the franchise’s most valuable asset?
