Lucy Dacus’ “Ankles” tops this week’s new music poll, which covers a diverse range of artists and genres.
The new track received nearly 66% of the vote in a poll released on Friday (January 17) advertising billboardsurpassing other notable new albums such as Hailey Whitters’ “Casseroles” and Mac Miller’s “Casseroles” Balloonism“Rushmere” by Mumford & Sons and “Slow Motion” by Marshmello and the Jonas Brothers.
“Ankles” is a charming song with rich harmonies and is the lead single from Dacus’ upcoming fourth album. always a feelingwill be released on March 28 via Geffen. The 13-track project will feature collaborations with her Boygenius bandmates Phoebe Bridgers and Julien Baker, as well as contributions from Hozier, Blake Mills, Bartees Strange and Madison Cunningham, among others.
The upcoming album will be Dacus’ first since 2020 home video This will be followed by a month-long tour in April and May. The 13-city “Always a Feeling” tour will include Philadelphia, Los Angeles, New York and Nashville.
In second place was Whitters’ “Casseroles,” which received nearly 17 percent of the vote. The poignant song delves into themes of grief and healing and marks Whitters’ first new album in two years. The country singer’s vocals draw on the pain of losing a brother more than a decade ago, exploring the volatile emotions surrounding loss and recovery. Ranking third was the “Other” category with 6% of the vote, followed by late rapper Miller’s posthumous album. Balloonismreceived 4% of the vote.
