The rapper and record producer Madlib, who is also the man behind Quasimoto, is suing the manager of his record and merchandise company, accusing the manager of enriching himself while mismanaging the company.
In a complaint filed in California Superior Court in Los Angeles on October 31, Madlib asked the court to dissolve medicine exhibita record company controlled by Madlib, and Madlib’s physical merchandise company, lap cat.

The complaint alleges that “under false pretenses,” Egon engaged Now-Again Records to act as an intermediary between Madlib Records and its primary publisher. grooveenabling Now-Again to deduct fees from any revenue generated by Madlib Music.
The complaint also alleges that Egon “failed and refused to allow” an audit of Now-Again and Madicine Show’s operations and failed to provide financial records and contracts for Madicine Show and Rapp Cats. Egon also allegedly failed to provide documentation proving that Madlib’s copyright had been transferred to Madicine Show, “based on which Madlib argued that there was no copyright at all.”
Madlib is both a solo artist and collaborator, having worked with: talibzin and Erica Badu. He is one half of the duo Crazy Waylandand the late rapper MF destruction.

“From the outset, Madlib relied on and expected Egon to manage both entities competently and diligently, to never put his own interests first, to avoid commingling or switching funds, to discharge his duty of loyalty and to act fairly and honestly. There is no conflict of interest of any kind in dealing with him,” the complaint states.
The complaint alleges breach of fiduciary duty and asks the court to dissolve the two companies and declare that Egon, Jank and Now-Again Records no longer have any rights or interests in Madlib’s work or business.global music business
