Margot Robbie Will star in and produce the film adaptation emily bronte’s classic novel Wuthering Heightsshe will star alongside Jacob Elordi (saltburn).
Wuthering Heights is an iconic gothic romance novel, starring Robbie as Catherine Earnshaw and Elodie as Heathcliff.
Emerald Fennell (Promising Young Woman, Saltburn) will serve as writer, director and producer of the film, which is currently in pre-production and is set to shoot in the UK in 2025.
This is a story about passion, revenge and the destructive power of love. The story takes place on the desolate Yorkshire moors and tells the tense and tumultuous relationship between Heathcliff, an orphan adopted by the Earnshaw family, and his childhood friend and soulmate Catherine Earnshaw.
Their love was passionate but also toxic, leading to betrayal and pain that rippled through generations. Consumed by revenge after being mistreated and rejected, Heathcliff becomes obsessed with ruining the lives of those around him, especially the descendants of the Earnshaw family and the neighboring Linton family.
This was a perfect film project for Fennell, as she specializes in creating dark stories with brooding atmosphere and complex characters.
