    Mariah Carey performs “We Belong Together” at AMA 50th Anniversary Celebration

    Mariah Carey is many things, but casual isn’t one of them. So, naturally, she had to make an appearance when she performed at the American Music Awards 50th Anniversary Special on Sunday (October 6) night.

    The center section of a giant bright pink “M” opened on the AMA stage to reveal the diva herself, decked out in an elegant white gown and sparkling jewelry. And Mimi did not disappoint. Carey was at her best when she sang “We Belong Together,” her 14th-week No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 (one of 19 No. 1 songs on the chart). In her best form, she weaved through soulful and soulful music, and sang a sustained and incredible long note at the end. This was a shocking performance.     The American Music Awards 50th Anniversary Special is produced by Dick Clark Productions. DCP is owned by Penske Media Eldridge, a subsidiary of Penske Media Corporation (PMC) and a joint venture between PMC and Eldrige. PMC is the parent company of Billboard.
