Carey didn’t mention Ron specifically, but was kind enough to offer general guidance for the new generation of pop stars in her response.
“Well, I’ve been through my share of drama,” Carey told reporters Associated Press. “It’s not fun because when you grow up you think, ‘I want to be famous.'”
She continued, “I mean, for me, I’ve always been, ‘I want to be a singer. I want to write songs.
“But the ‘I want to be famous’ thing is there,” Carey admits. “I think it was probably because I didn’t feel like I was good enough because of some of the things I went through growing up. It’s not a good feeling, you know?
“My advice would be to do your best to get into this industry and love your talent or what’s really right for you,” Carey said.
“You know, if it’s like, ‘I want to be famous. I want to run around with those people, whoever they are, celebrities,’ then that’s probably not the best idea,” she added.
Chappelle does seem to be focused on her love of art and acting. But she made it known that she found some parts of fame intolerable, especially the behavior of “superfans” who lacked boundaries.
“I chose this career path because I love music and art and respect my inner child,” she said in August. “I will not accept harassment of any kind because I chose this path, nor should I.”
She asked fans to “please stop touching me. Please stop acting weird to my family and friends. Please stop assuming things about me. There’s always more to the story. I’m scared and tired.”
Following the cancellation of last weekend’s shows, Ron is back on the road for the remainder of the Midwest Princess Tour. She plans to wrap up the tour this week in Austin.
