Meanwhile, Short will join the Five-Man Club for his upcoming hosting gig. Short, who was a cast member during the 1984-1985 season and hosted the show in 1986, 1996, 2012 and 2022, is set to make his debut, making him the first former cast member from the Dick Ebersole era to join the club .
In the latest promo for the episode, Short and Hozier find themselves joined by Kenan Thompson to introduce himself to the audience. “It’s a Christmas show, so it’s always fun,” Thompson added. “Really? Shouldn’t someone put up some decorations?” Short asked. Hozier admitted it was “a little bare,” and an angry Thompson exited the heavily made-up set, demanding more decorations.
“Martin, don’t you love Christmas?” Thompson asks in another promotional video. “I actually prefer to celebrate the ancient Roman festival Saturnalia, so Christmas is just ‘Wednesday’ to me,” he added. “Fellow Saturn?” Hozier asked before Thompson wished everyone a happy Saturnalia (Saturnalia is Dec. 17-23 in 2024).
In their last promo, an excited Short ended the show asking for a better script for Christmas, in lieu of the “dribble” he’d apparently delivered before.
