Mayfair Season 2 got off to a worrisome start, but the Anne Rice series is slowly improving, and Mayfair Season 2 Episode 4 is its best moment yet.
One of the adaptation’s biggest flaws is how it utilizes characters other than Rowan and Rashel, but season two is addressing those issues now that we’ve reached the halfway point.
The plot is finally converging, and more of the Mayfair family are starting to become key elements of the show, which is what we should have gotten in the first place.
We’ll start with the team of Rowan and Moira because they are a perfect match in television. They bring unique skills to the situations encountered in “Double Helix.”
After Mayfair Season 2 Episode 3, I thought Moira would let Rowan go because she didn’t trust her cousin to stick to her decision and take down Rashel.
Although Daphne is trapped under a spell due to Rowan’s strange bursts of magic, Moira understands that Rowan has the weight of the world on his shoulders and isn’t afraid to point it out.
What makes this episode great is that these two work together to get closer to unraveling the deeper mysteries of the Mayfair family, and there’s every reason to believe we’ll be seeing more of it.
Families would be wise to remember that Rowan was suddenly given this assigned role, so anyone expecting her to make decisions that fit the needs of the family would be sadly mistaken.
Rowan has been questioning her decision so far as she faces scrutiny from all angles.
Still, her outburst at the beginning of the episode highlights that she’s losing patience with everyone and is ready to make decisions without consulting anyone.
She’s an unpredictable family member who’s been given a coveted position of power, and she might be able to unite the Mayfair family before the season ends.
It’s certainly a good thing that the family has a meeting without her to discuss whether or not they should take her down, but maybe they’ll eat crow when she proves that her decisions were for the family’s benefit all along.
The most surprising aspect of this installment is that it seems poised to tell the story of Moira and Rowan working together to save Daphne and JoJo from the curse. However, there’s more to it than that.
It’s interesting to learn more about Evelyn and Dolly Jean’s connection to Julian, as it provides background that complements these characters and lays a solid foundation for their identities and places in the family.
It’s clear that the women of Mayfair have endured a lot over the years, and what makes the show great is that it ultimately taps into this rich history.
Mayfair Season 2 Episode 4 threw a lot of curveballs into the narrative and set up a lot of exciting plot points for the second half of the season.
Still, one of the most exciting things is Lark and what he plans to do with the information about Rowan.
Lark and Rowan have a past together, as evidenced by their shared life falling apart when he withholds information about his new job from her.
Lark is a difficult person to understand because on the surface, it’s obvious that he loves Rowan very much, but this episode proves twice that he’s too selfish to be in a relationship with her.
He’s loyal to his job, and his curiosity about the blood she sent him probably more than anything else drives him to board a flight to New Orleans.
There is a connection between the two, but why do I feel like Rowan had to kill him to keep the family secret?
He’s matched her DNA to Lasher’s, and he’s already revealed that Lasher’s sample was not human, so this development must be the breakthrough scientists like him are after.
The flashback to Luck and Rowan’s split a few years ago was meant to show viewers that history will repeat itself in a bigger way this time around. Mark my words.
Look at it this way: Mayfair Witches wants viewers to root for Rowan and Shipp, and they’ve slowly begun to interact with each other again.
Whatever Lark had planned for Rowan and her family, it wasn’t worth Taramusca erasing from his mind, and I can’t shake the feeling that Shipp would be more interested in letting Rowan do what she needs to do , no questions asked.
Sip’s usage has been underutilized this season, but his arc has generated excitement due to the mystery of where Albrecht took Rusher and the mystery of his diabolical plan.
Raschel was a powerful presence, but Albrecht had been immersed in Taramasca for years and knew how to take things off the page.
I have no doubt that Albrecht had revealed his plan to Sipp, and that it was somewhere in his subconscious, waiting to explode when he least expected it.
The addition of the Talamaska Amsterdam branch is a great way to expand the scope of the range again, and it will be interesting to see what happens in the Netherlands.
I’m not sure if the series will show Shipp responding to those higher up on the food chain than him, but it would be a nice way to continue to build on Talamaska.
Season 2 of Mayfair Witches was destined to be another disappointment just a few episodes ago, but the creatives and cast are now working hard to shape it into the series it should have been from the beginning.
It’s a shame it took so long to get to this point as many viewers may have left and won’t come back, but I will love Mayfair Witches as long as it lasts.
