In most series, there comes a point where you question whether it’s worth watching the rest of it, and Mayfair Witches has done this over and over again.
Thankfully, Mayfair Season 2 Episode 3 is the series’ best entry, and with a few minor changes, it could develop into the adaptation we should have been getting in the first place.
Adaptations are difficult to pull off, but the creative staff seems more interested in keeping the narrative consistent with the source material, making it a more worthwhile endeavor.
Rowan’s decision is still a big deal because she’s not thinking about the bigger picture, but it’s clear that part of her is enjoying the gift Rashel gave her, maybe a little too much.
Rounding up the Mayfairs is a tall order since they have decidedly different opinions on what Rusher brings to the family, but I don’t think she needs Cortland’s help throwing the party.
A simple message to everyone that she needed to talk to them about Rushall and the recent mortality rate of women in Mayfair was enough to pique their curiosity.
With Cortland so selfish, it was inevitable that he would find a way to sway their opinions and get out of trouble.
Jojo is right to be angry with Rowan for bringing her father back to the land of the living without consulting her first.
The two women have built this rapport over the past two seasons.
Jojo never thought about turning his back on Rowan, and the rest of the family wouldn’t hesitate to do the same.
If Rowan succeeds in breaking the spell she accidentally put on JoJo and Daphne, she’ll have a lot of explaining to do, because.
I’ll keep saying this until I’m blue in the face: Her actions make no sense in the grand scheme of things.
Alexandra Daddario plays the character of the confused young woman to perfection and is slowly but surely getting more comfortable baring her soul for the role.
Rowan isn’t as proactive as she thinks she is, but that’s what makes Mayfair Season 2 Episode 3 a cut above the rest of the episodes that have aired.
Her questionable motive for gathering everyone in the house, and then her admitting to Moira that she wanted to lure Rashel there to kill him, is interesting because it’s obvious that things are going to go wrong.
Rowan hesitated, then immediately tried to protect Raschel when Taramasca appeared.
This highlights the connection between them and proves to the family that her actions are not committed.
It’s hard to say what Rowan will do with the Whiplash next, as Taramusca will find a way to tear them apart, especially now that Rowan has shown them where her true allegiances lie.
Sadly Moira will never trust Rowan again either. If Rowan had been honest with Moira about her intentions, they might have a path forward.
But in Moira’s case, Rashel killed her mother and is convinced that he needs to be killed, or at least captured by the Talamascans, and taken to a place where his influence can be diminished.
This, coupled with Rowan’s lack of control over magic, sends Moira’s only surviving sibling, Daphne, into another realm that can only be assumed.
Moira probably doesn’t want to be near Rowan anymore.
They might team up to break the curse, and some context might allow Moira to understand Rowan’s point of view, but I wouldn’t hold my breath. If I were in Moira’s shoes, I wouldn’t trust Rowan.
It’s a nice change of pace that Rasheer is foiled before he kills Evelyn, because we don’t need to witness more women die at his hands.
While it would be easy to paint Rusher as straight-up evil since his criminal record speaks for itself, the show and Jack Huston do a great job of humanizing him to show that there’s more going on here than meets the eye More arrived.
The crossover with Interview with the Vampire via one of Lester’s minions is interesting, as the vampire now says Rashel’s scent is completely different from anything vampires normally smell.
That alone makes me believe word will get out and vampires may play a bigger role in Mayfair Witches than expected.
If word of the smell spread, more people would come from further afield to try and taste his blood.
Mayfair Season 2 Episode 3 highlighted that the show still has some life left in it, so I’m interested to see where the show goes next because the stakes have never been higher.
What do you think about Rowan trying to save Rashel after saying he was going to kill him? Do you think the show will pit Rowan on his side against the rest of the family?
