I may have seen the first one Moana At least 50 times. I can sing most of Maui’s “You’re Welcome” songs verbatim and can recite the punchline to almost every joke. I have two little girls at home and this movie is still one of the top ten movies they continue to watch. directed by John Musk and Ron Clementssong by Lin-Manuel Mirandathis movie is really funny and a hit. so, moana 2 Almost as a matter of course. While it’s still fun, there are also moments where people ask, “Why did they do that?”
The story is set several years after the original “Moana” (Ori Cravalhoalways good) is visited by a wayfinding ancestor who tells her she needs to find a long-lost island to help reunite members of a long-lost community. If she doesn’t succeed, her people will cease to exist.
Accompanied by Loto, she quickly sets out for the waters of Oceania.Rose Matafio), money(fruit clock) and available (David Fearn), and Pua and Heihei (Alan Tudyk), solve the mystery and find the island. Soon, Maui (Dwayne Johnsona welcome energy) joins the crew to help them complete their mission.
One of the great things about the first movie was that Moana was the one driving things forward. This is her story. When Maui arrives, despite being a demigod, he is able to help show the audience just how powerful she is, with or without his help. For some reason, writers Jared Busch (returning from the first film) and Dana LeDoux Miller decided they needed more characters to help her on her journey. However, they don’t do anything to advance the story, they just get in the way, and to be honest, they’re a little annoying. Moana either helps save them or tries to get them to stop causing damage to one thing or another.
There are one or two catchy songs written by Abigail Barlow, Emily Bell, Opetaia Foy, and Mark Mancina, but the rest are mostly forgettable. I mean how do you top Lin-Manu Miranda? This is a difficult task. Even though Johnson couldn’t sing, Miranda realized this and still turned “You’re Welcome” into one of the best songs in the movie. The song he sings here, “Mana Vavau,” feels out of touch with his time, like he’s trying to keep up with the music.
The animation looks really great. The water is crystal clear blue and the colors of the entire movie pop off the screen. It’s almost as real as a photo and the best I’ve ever seen.
Moana now has a sister, Simia (Khaleesi Lambert Tsuda) are as cute as buttons, and there’s another set of characters called Kakamora that will no doubt be a hit at Disneyland.
The ending is satisfying, but there is no ending for Maui and Moana. There’s no bye or “smell later”, which I find weird.
But why take that away from me, here’s what my daughters Ella (7) and Sadie (5) had to say about it:
Sadie: I love this little sister and those songs. The scariest part of the movie is when Moana falls into the ocean. My favorite part is when Maui turns into a shark. Really interesting.
Ella: I loved everything about this movie. I love that she goes on new adventures, I love the songs and the new coconut characters.
