Chaos broke out at Morrissey’s Dallas concert on November 2, when an unexpected influx of fans forced the singer to abruptly cancel the show.
The incident occurred at Fair Park Music Hall as Morrissey was performing “The Gang Dies First” to an enthusiastic audience and as an encore, a fan managed to get on stage to hug him. Although the singer initially appeared unfazed, security stepped in to remove the fan.
Things quickly got out of hand and other members of the audience began to follow suit and storm the stage. Security staff struggled to control the crowd as more concertgoers tried to attend the impromptu meet-and-greet.
According to the video obtained TMZAt least one guard appeared to lose his balance during the scuffle and was reportedly injured in the leg during the commotion. Morrissey was quickly removed from the stage by his team, leaving the audience with no further explanation. He has yet to make a formal statement on the incident.
This isn’t the first time Morrissey has walked off the stage mid-performance. His career was littered with similar exits, often for reasons ranging from sound issues to environmental issues and confrontations with fans.
In 2009, Morrissey left the stage at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in California due to the smell of burning meat from a nearby food vendor. Disturbed by the smell of “burning flesh,” he commented, “I can smell burning flesh and I wish God was human,” before abruptly ending his performance.
In 2014, he also ended his San Jose show early after several audience members rushed to the stage. While Morrissey initially seemed to be having fun, he was forced to leave when some overzealous fans inadvertently knocked him to the ground.
That same year, a concert he gave in Warsaw, Poland, was interrupted after just 25 minutes after a confrontation with a heckler. While the exact nature of the questioning was unclear, it was enough for Morrissey to leave the stage and not return.
In 2017, he ended a show in Tucson, Arizona, after singing just six songs, citing voice issues. This pattern repeated itself in 2022 at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles, where he walked out just 30 minutes into the show, leaving his band to inform the audience that the concert was over without explanation.
