Originally a poignant pop ballad, Tiago PZK’s “Mi Corazón” undergoes a lively transformation in its latest remix. Teaming up with Tex-Mex sensation Grupo Frontera, this release not only continues to pay homage to La Mosca Tsé-Tsé’s iconic “Para No Verte Más,” but also reinvents the wheel by splicing a lively cumbia rhythm, proving once again that the art lies in Innovation.
Together they inject some lyrical tweaks while retaining the original chorus while deftly transforming the track into a cumbia that commands you to dance. Backed by the signature sounds of güiros, accordion, requinto and rhythm guitar, the song now has an undeniable energy.
The music video that accompanies the remix places Tiago PZK and Grupo Frontera in stark images of black denim rock attire, boarding a train bound for the unknown. The film has a retro feel, reminiscent of 1940s film noir, with warm sepia tones.
Choosing the best remixes of the week was tough, including “Mis Amigas (Remix)” by a star-studded cast of Braray, Zion, Wisin, Jowell & Randy, Ñengo Flow, Maldy, Jory Boy, Gotay, Ñejo and Luigi 21 Plus )” contenders, including classic reggae samples from Tego Calderón, Daddy Yankee and Chaka Demus & Pliers. ROA, De La Rose and Luar La L also feature “ETA (RMX),” a collaboration with Yan Block and Omar Courtz, a simmering, seductive take on subtle trap. Elsewhere, Dani Flow teams up with Veracruz legend Grupo Climax for a fun rendition of “Mesa Que Más Alauda (Remix).”
However, “Mi Corazón” stands out – not just for its deft blend of genres, but also for its ability to breathe new life into the song’s soul.
