Nashville’s 9-1-1 spin-off receives ABC Series Orders in 2025-26
Shortly after the first 9-1-1, the second 9-1-1-derived idea first surfaced: Lone Star, premiered on Fox in 2020. After Mother’s 9-1-1 series moved out of Fox, it began to grow to 2023’s 20th TV sibling ABC.
Since then, the 9-1-1 team has explored several locations to enable potential franchise expansion. Talk about Las Vegas early on. Last fall, as the project maintained a high attitude with Murphy, confirming that he and Minear were working on the script, the focus turned to Hawaii. As Deadline reported at the time, the high cost of filming in the 50th state was considered a major obstacle.
The producer’s attention eventually shifted to the south, with Nashville becoming the leader in part because I heard about the tax credits for the proposed series.
Nashville is a major music hub and is not as prevalent as other nearby cities, including Atlanta, Georgia. Wilmington, North Carolina; and Memphis, Tennessee. The most famous script series set and shot is ABC’s Nashville.
The Nashville branch is looking to join the Los Angeles-style mothership 9-1-1-1 on ABC titled Bassett, which looks good for ABC’s Season 9 renewal. The franchise was produced by TV No. 20 in conjunction with Ryan Murphy TV.
