In the real world, tomorrow will mark one of the most volatile presidential elections in history, which is unsettling for many people, no matter which side they’re on.
You’ve got to wonder if the writers had this in mind when crafting NCIS Season 22 Episode 4, because it’s a heart-pounding one.
There’s nothing better than getting a phone call in the middle of the night while you’re asleep—just ask Parker, and he’ll quickly learn it’s usually not good news.
It was probably the worst phone call he’d ever received, and it definitely wasn’t someone saying, “Guess who won the election?”
No, this call was worse – Russia was preparing for World War III!
Hopefully this isn’t one of those episodes that eerily predicts future events. But if so, at least we can say NCIS kept its cool amid the chaos.
In addition to the looming threat of nuclear war, Air Force One is missing and the chain of command is in disarray — like the Vice President having an emergency colonoscopy at 3 a.m.?
It’s all a little too convenient. But is this a coincidence?
Now, the fate of the world is decided by the military and the Senate Majority Leader – both of whom happily “push the red button.”
Talk about a night to remember!
You can only hope you have people like the NCIS team around you to rally together and do whatever it takes to prevent something as horrific as this from happening in the real world.
Parker is the most realistic person in the room. He was not afraid to challenge authority no matter what. He made it clear that he thought the two leaders were acting too hastily.
Why? They don’t have all the information yet, as messages from NCIS in Naples have yet to be decoded, which will shed further light on what’s going on.
Of course they ordered McGee to arrest his boss due to his insubordination, but he refused.
It’s a very tense (and all-too-realistic) situation that NCIS is able to control, even though Vance, Mia, Jimmy, and Jesse are camping (like, seriously. Who cares?!).
Even Sweeney realizes, after storming into the NCIS office to arrest Parker and McGee, that if it weren’t for his worst enemy—aka Parker—we’d all be dead.
I like that McGee sides with Parker on this because as a Gibbs loyalist, he could have stayed within the boundaries.
Parker was so far removed from the baseline that it was always a question whether the rest of the “old guard” team would support him. I think this question has been answered.
We don’t know why Vance isn’t here.
While his debunking of all the coincidences that night seemed reasonable, it sounded more like information manipulation than truth. I don’t buy it.
Still, it’s nice to see Parker get recognized for saving the world.
and it was Parker and the rest of the NCIS team. Sweeney was on the phone just in time to stop America from pushing that fatal red button.
Important? certainly. But let’s be honest: If it weren’t for NCIS, he wouldn’t have given it a second thought.
What better way to prove just how powerful the new NCIS team is than to launch a Quiet Riot to save the world?
While Parker and the rest of the team work to save the world from a deadly fate, Jimmy and Jesse go camping and contemplate the fate of their relationship.
I don’t know if this is a joke, but apparently, Jimmy has been dating other women – namely, a chick named Jennifer (I guess he’s not that sad now, huh?).
I have to be honest. I find this whole Jimmy/Jesse relationship drama annoying, especially in this episode, which is pretty serious.
When I say “Who cares?” I mean it. Because really, who cares?
I understand they have no idea what’s going on, but putting this relationship in the middle of an hour discussing possible World War III is stupid.
It’s not funny, and it doesn’t add levity to the moment. If I haven’t already said it─that’s annoying.
I’m going to say it now. Jimmy is not good enough for Jesse.
They are so complete opposites that it’s not even funny.
There is no chemistry between them. You can look, lean in, imagine all you want, but it just isn’t there. I don’t care how long they dated.
She was too alive for him, and those tears she shed when Jimmy extinguished that rekindled fire forever? I imagine these were more tears of relief than tears of sadness.
I’m not saying they wouldn’t be friends – they certainly could and they were. But I was relieved that the romance was over; it was time to move on.
Also, I know someone who is a perfect match for Jesse, but I’ll save that interesting tidbit for later.
But you have to give Jimmy credit for realizing that he wasn’t right for Jess and that she deserved someone better.
Obviously, if he was already in love with someone else, he wouldn’t love her that much. But good for him – now go.
Well, TV fanatics, it’s over to you. Is this episode tense or something? Do you like Parker’s style? Are you glad McGee and Parker are together? What about Jimmy and Jesse?
