In NCIS Season 22 Episode 7, Torres is in trouble again, or at least involved in something that definitely doesn’t exist.
Why does he always act like he can do whatever he wants without consequences? Honestly, it’s confusing.
His character has been all over the place lately.
Last week, on NCIS Season 22 Episode 6, he was busy playing detective (wasting everyone’s time) with Jess’ mystery jacket.
Now, he is off the grid and starting to cultivate his own CI. There’s nothing wrong with setting up an informant, of course, but his approach feels… fishy.
Vance thought Torres might have crossed a line, but Parker brushed it off. Is he covering for him? I wouldn’t be surprised if Parker does think Torres crossed a line but remains silent to protect his team.
This isn’t the first time.
Let’s face it – Torres finding himself in trouble is actually an ongoing theme at the moment.
This week’s case centers on the murder of Navy researcher Roger Carnaghan, who planned to steal and sell top-secret nuclear research.
In true Torres fashion, Torres develops the guy’s wife, Amber, into a confidential informant – who just happened Meet at a party. Because, of course, he did.
Things take a turn when two private investigators catch Torres and Amber in a motel. It doesn’t look good, but there’s more to the story.
Someone is framing Torres – shocking! It turns out that Amber was involved in her husband’s plan, and “Missile” was at the center of it all. Yes, that’s not a missile – that’s a vacuum. Let it sink in.
And, surprisingly, the new PI thought he was going to profit from the nuke, but that wasn’t the case and caused the massive mess Torres found himself in.
Still, none of that changes the fact that Torres needs to be on a leash – whether it’s for his off-the-book operations or just general boundary-pushing behavior.
A side story at this point? Just as lame. The story centers on an erroneous call at a local children’s soccer game, where Tim moonlights as a referee.
Apparently, Jimmy was the league’s chief referee, and that’s how McGee was brought in.
Don’t get me started on Jimmy.
He’s such a rookie, and it’s so frustrating to see McGee get stuck in a storyline about a bad football game and Jimmy treat him like they’re equally incompetent. Honestly, it’s insulting.
Look, I understand the sports craziness of all kids and the insanity of their parents. Been there, done that.
Sure, it’s nice to see McGee and Jimmy show off their parenting skills, but Jimmy feels like he’s out of place in this universe.
I’ve been rewatching NCIS since the beginning, even in the first season, when Jimmy was a rookie.
Gibbs and Ducky could barely tolerate him (Don’t believe me? Go see for yourself.)
Then why is he still here? All he brings is boredom, and watching him fumble through the scenes is uncomfortable at best.
What makes it worse is that McGee keeps getting sucked into irrelevant storylines like this.
His character has grown a lot over the years, but these random detours feel like a throwback. It’s frustrating to watch.
then real Kicker.
McGee is investigating a murder and discussing cigarette butt prints with Casey when – wait for it – Casey decides now is the perfect time to show him a video-enhanced version of the controversial football call.
I mean, WTF?
First, do these people have there is nothing What’s the best thing to do while a case is active? Especially Cassie? Last week, it was a selfie with a corpse. This week, she’s busy doing video enhancements for a football game.
Secondly, are we really using taxpayer dollars to do this crap? Talk about wasteful government spending. It’s ridiculous and I’m honestly over it.
I know we need side stories, but some of them are so lame it makes my eyes hurt.
A better use of McGee’s time would be to delve deeper into LaRoche. Remember in NCIS Season 22 Episode 3, how he missed Ducky’s office dedication because he was too focused on investigating LaRoche?
From then on, everything seemed to disappear. If he was so obsessed that he missed such an important moment, why should we pretend it never happened? The inconsistency is maddening.
Speaking of crazy, let’s not forget NCIS Season 22 Episode 2, where the team had to hide a body.
Jimmy was the first to question whether they had crossed a line.
But now, when it comes to football games, he’s clearly (thanks to Casey’s reenactment video) making the wrong decision, and he wants McGee to let go to save their “coaching careers.”
Seriously? It’s just kids – they bounce back, right? But then Jimmy made the dramatic “I’m retiring from coaching” move, only to go back on his word.
McGee? He went out because he just wanted to watch his kids play football. respect. There was no need for McGee to follow Jimmy down this sad path.
Honestly, Jimmy needs to leave NCIS entirely and work on his own issues. He brings nothing to the team and his constant baggage is dragging everyone down.
He’s like a clog in a sink—stubborn, smelly, and impossible to ignore. It’s time to call the plumber. (What can I say? I call it like I see it. Shoot me.)
Lately, “NCIS” has felt like watching a tennis match—one episode is good, the other is mediocre. There is no consistency.
Going back to my early rewatches, the original NCIS team of DiNozzo, Gibbs, McGee, and Kate (plus Ducky and Abby) reminded me of Parker’s current vibe.
It was fun then—until it wasn’t anymore.
I’m not sure what’s going on with NCIS now or why the quality varies, but it does.
With only two episodes left until the midseason break, hopefully they can finish strong and pick up a few wins.
