Netflix’s AAA Game Studios in Southern California closed two years after its launch, and they never released any video games.
The studio, called Team Blue, is one of “a handful” of game studios set up by Netflix as part of a plan to make a splash in the games industry.
As of now, Netflix has a plethora of mobile games available on its mobile app, but the company’s plan is to make big-budget games for multiple consoles and platforms.
Therefore, they should be Netflix games released for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S. These games will be based on its original IP.
To help achieve this goal, Team Blue hired Strike Force executive producer Chacko Sonny in 2022 and former Halo creative lead Joseph Staten, who quit Xbox Game Studios in 2023 To work on Halo Infinite, join Games Workshop.
Team Blue has also hired art director Rafael Grassetti, who worked on the God of War series at Sony. All three key employees are no longer with the company.
There was a great team of talent out there that could create really cool stuff, but unfortunately they never got the chance to launch anything they were developing.
While Netflix is still developing games, none of them are the big-budget AAA titles we’ve seen on any of the big platforms.
