The series will follow the story of an aging, down-on-his-luck private detective (played by Cage) in 1930s New York who is forced to grapple with his past life as the city’s only superhero.
The show will “bring a new twist to the Spider-Man saga with the upcoming show. Breaking with tradition, the show will star Nicolas Cage as Ben Reilly instead of the iconic Peter Parker.
It was also previously revealed that Spider-Man Noir will be facing off against Silvio Manfredi (aka Silvermane) and Yuri Watanabe (aka Specter).
Another description of the show reads: “We follow private eye Ben Reilly as he falls down a rabbit hole of corruption in 1933 New York City while establishing his past as a superhero.
“Reilly’s investigation into the death of Edward Addison leads him to discover that the mayor is planning something nefarious involving crime lord Silverman and femme fatale Yuri Watanabe.”
Cage has previously spoken about his reasons for taking on another live-action film role, saying: “I knew after Legs the phone was going to be ringing to play a serial killer. It wasn’t really something I enjoyed doing.
“I don’t like violence. I don’t want to play people who hurt other people. One of the reasons I love this potential show is that it’s fantasy. It’s not really people hitting people. Monsters are involved, too.
The cast also includes Kari Christopher, Michael Kostroff, Scott MacArthur, Joe Massingill, Whitney Rice, Amanda Schull, Lamorne Morris, Brendan Gleeson, Abraham Popola, Li Jun Liand Lucas Haas (The Woman in White, Inception).
