A few years ago, Disney announced that it would develop an animated series based on its popular properties haunted house Theme park attractions. Unfortunately, the series was never greenlit.
The creator of the series is Kubo and the Two Strings, Shannon Tyndallthere’s actually a trailer made for the series, which you can watch below.
In a recent interview with CinemaBlend, Tindle shared some new details about the project and how it was inspired by one of the animators on Walt Disney’s original Nine Brothers, Mark Davishe became one of the primary designers of Disneyland and Disney World attractions.
Speaking about how the project came together, Tindle said: “I’m a huge fan of it. I love Mark Davis. I love his work and his transition from being one of the Nine Elders of Animation to working at WED .
“So, yeah, this is one of those things that happened to me when I was in my overalls at Disney and I said, ‘I have an idea. haunted house.’ So we developed it as an ongoing series first, and then we pivoted and said, what if we did this as a mini-series? The trailer is out there somewhere. The trailer is there. I really want to succeed.
All that has been previously revealed about the show is that it will focus on a young girl dealing with the grief of losing a loved one. However, we now have some additional information on some of the other ideas the show will be incorporating.
Tindall explained that the series will bring together multiple characters from Disney history into one cinematic universe. One of them is Herbie the love bug.
“I would say, one of my ideas is that you go to all these wild, haunted places, and I went to a shopping mall parking lot and you see these ghostly lights coming through the fog,” he said.
“The main character, the little girl, was like, ‘Oh my God, what kind of spirit would I encounter here?'” This is Herbie the love bug, this is my interpretation of Herbie, and Herbie is haunted.
“Lou Romano did a great drawing of this, so it’s just to give you an idea. I wanted to get involved. I was like, ‘Disney has all these great characters, let’s use them.’ “But you know, that’s not the case. Hey, maybe, they’ll come back to the table with this. I’d love to do that.
Speaking previously about the series, Tindle said: “My goal was to take inspiration from all the backstories created by WED[Disney Imagineering Division]artists and stitch them together into one massive narrative. This story will span several years. , focusing on different characters, but adding up to one big interconnected story.
He went on to talk about the tone of the series, saying it will have “a lot of fun and silly elements.” It was explained that “it will be wrapped up in a larger story, with viewers entering the show through the eyes of a character who is grieving the recent loss of a loved one.”
It’s such a shame that Disney dropped this series because it would have been so much fun to watch!
