As wildfires continue to rage across Southern California and the damage begins to be tallied, descriptions of the disaster are growing, and Paris Hilton is one of the many affected to share her account.
Hilton took to social media on Wednesday (January 8) to reflect on her heartbreak after learning of the destruction of her home via a news broadcast.
“Heartbroken beyond words,” Hilton wrote. “Sitting with my family, watching the news, and seeing our home in Malibu burn down on live television is something no one should have to experience. This home is where we have made many cherished memories. It is where Phoenix took her first steps and where we dreamed of creating lifelong memories with London.
“Despite the tragic loss, I am grateful that my family and pets are safe. My heart and prayers go out to every family affected by the fires. To all those who have lost their homes, memories, and beloved pets. My heart goes out to The extent of the devastation is unimaginable for those who are still hurting or mourning a greater loss, and it is heartbreaking to know that so many people are waking up today without a place they call home.
Hilton continued her post, explaining that her 11:11 Media Impact team (the philanthropic arm of her 11:11 Media company) has been reaching out to nonprofits looking for ways to support communities devastated by the fires.
Hilton joins Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, The Weeknd and others in sharing resources and messages to help those affected by the fires. “We are committed to providing help as quickly as possible to make a meaningful difference to those who need it most.”
“The brave firefighters and first responders who risk their lives to protect us are the true heroes,” she continued. “I am so grateful for your courage, your dedication and the incredible sacrifices you are making to save lives and fight this unimaginable battle. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Hilton ended her post by urging those nearby to stay safe and follow evacuation orders if necessary.
“Let’s protect each other and hold out hope that the fire will soon be contained,” she continued. “Sending so much love and strength to all of you. We are in this together, Los Angeles. Hold your loved ones a little tighter tonight. You never know when everything may change.
