Peso Pluma rocked New York City’s Barclays Center on Thursday (October 3), captivating the crowd as part of his 2024 Éxodo Tour to promote his latest album of the same name. The Mexican superstar performed nearly three hours of hits and featured a slew of special guests including Ice Spice, Eladio Carrión, Estevan Plazola, Los Dareyes de la Sierra, Tito Double P, Yng Lvcas and Jasiel Nuñez.
To add to the excitement, J Balvin made a special virtual appearance backstage before Peso Pluma took the stage, electrifying the audience as Black Sabbath’s “NIB” roared through the speakers.
Against a majestic background, a verse with a biblical tone played on the big screen: “There are more than eight billion people in the world, and each of us is different, with different origins and different stories that make up our character.” displayed on the screen. “Of course, not everyone has a perfect character, and perhaps those who think our ways are flawed do as well. The Guadalajara native kicked off the show with “La Durango” in black pants, a white T-shirt, olive Travis Scott Air Jordans, silver chains and a slicked-down hairstyle in place of his classic mullet. His energy is contagious, he has a huge smile on his face and is full of energy on stage. Flanked by hip-hop style dancers and black-clad musicians, including a brass section, toloroche, guitars and bajo banjos, the band performed an impressive rendition of the acoustic instruments Transformation, resonated at a sold-out Barclays stage.
Covering hits such as “Lady Gaga,” “Rubicon” and “La Patrulla,” the highlight of the night was undoubtedly the performances from the many special guests. Ice Spice rocked her red curls and showed off her new slim figure, performing “Deli,” and Yng Lvcas joined Pluma for “La Bebé,” which was sung by Jasiel Nuñez, who was the first to be invited, Peso always called him his best friend. His cousin Tito Double P also co-wrote several songs with the superstar, including Tito’s “Dos Días” and Peso’s hit “La People II.”
Eladio Carrión had his moment of glory with the trap song “Mbappé,” while the Los Dareyes de la Sierra frontman sang on The accordion-driven Corridos left a lasting impression. Another standout moment was Peso’s performance of Karol G’s “Qlona”, the 2023 Song of the Year “Ella Baila Sola” with Eslabon Armado, and from exodusDuring this time, Peso shared his personal connection with the song written by Estevan Plazola in 2020.
Outside the arena it was a different story, as fans gathered to share food and beers at a tailgate party, with nearby cars blasting Peso Pluma songs and selling an array of bootleg merchandise, suggesting that Peso Pluma and modern Corridos has truly become a cultural phenomenon.
