Movie review:
- talisencrw: I loved the first two installments of Jackie Chan’s Police Story series and wish I could have seen the adventures of Jackie Chan’s Detective Inspector Chan Ka Kui (Police Story 3: Super Cops and Project S – even though this was posted tagged “Police Story 4,” which is actually the fifth appearance of his very popular character). Still, the story (which essentially follows a James Bond-esque character as he’s forced by his bosses to help the CIA prevent a Russian nuclear device from falling into the wrong hands) stands on its own and is exciting from start to finish. Something was often different and missing compared to his earlier experiences in Hong Kong (even though it was made in Hong Kong and dubbed – albeit horrifically – to help him become a star stateside). If I have to say, I think I prefer movies directed by Jackie Chan himself. It’s still hugely enjoyable, and the set pieces in it – especially when he uses the ladder to protect himself – are close to stunningly choreographed perfection…
