Primary Wave Music has struck a music rights deal with Grammy-winning violinist Itzhak Perlman, whom the company describes as “the reigning master of the violin world.”
According to Primary Wave, under the terms of the agreement, the company will work with Perlman on recording interests for all recordings on which Perlman performs, including artist royalties, name rights and likeness rights.
The deal includes recordings spanning his 55-plus-year career, including “Vivaldi: The Four Seasons – Spring”, “Vivaldi: The Four Seasons – Winter” and “Vivaldi: The Four Seasons -“summer.
Perlman collaborated with the film’s composer John Williams, who later won an Academy Award for Best Original Score, and played solo violin throughout the score.
Other recordings included are Perlman’s Black Orpheus: Manhard Carnival, 24 Caprice, Op. 1. Concerto for Violin and Orchestra I, Violin Concerto, Op. 35 and others.
Primary Wave said the partnership will give Perlman access to the company’s marketing team and publishing infrastructure to work closely on new marketing, branding, digital and synchronization opportunities, as well as film and television projects.
Commenting on the partnership, Perlman said: “I’m excited to work with Primary Wave to see what plans they have in place for my recordings and to see what new opportunities they bring to the table.

He has also received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, four Emmy Awards, a Genesis Award, and was recognized by the Kennedy Center in 2023.
During the 2024/25 season, Perlman will perform across the country alongside today’s klezmer stars in celebration of the 30th anniversary of his iconic PBS special Fiddler’s Home.

Elsewhere in Primary Wave Music, the company announced in October that it had reached a deal with the estate of legendary country and folk singer-songwriter Jerry Jeff Walker.
Primary Wave’s other recent deals include a “multimillion-dollar” partnership with the estate of Ric Ocasek, frontman of ’80s new wave band The Cars, perhaps best known for their 1984 hit drive.
