New to Pro Tools are changes to the way it supports video color spaces so that video colors are represented correctly. Video tracks provide color space settings to control how files are processed. There are many options, but luckily the ones available in the user interface are limited to those relevant to your requirements.
Bundle content
Annual Pro Tools Flex subscribers will receive a subscription to SoundFlow Cloud Avid Edition. Currently, all Avid Edition subscriptions are valid until March 31, 2025, but SoundFlow hopes to extend that period before the expiration date to make it more than just a one-year subscription. This SoundFlow subscription is equivalent to the lowest-tier SoundFlow subscription, SoundFlow Cloud Indie, but is Pro Tools-specific, meaning all non-Pro Tools content is not installed and comes with over 1600 Pro Tools macros.
Pro Tools Flex annual subscribers also get a 90-day trial of SoundFlow Pro, three times the standard free trial.
Plug-in package
Starting with Pro Tools 2018.4, Pro Tools users with an active subscription or support plan can receive the Avid Complete plug-in pack of more than 120 plug-ins, including the outstanding Pro Series. This is still the case with the new Pro Tools Studio and Pro Tools Flex layers. The biggest change is that while Pro Tools First doesn’t allow third-party plug-ins, Pro Tools Artist does, and instead of 23 plug-ins, Pro Tools Artist comes with over 100 plug-ins, nearly all of the complete package.
Although extensive functionality of Pro Compressor and Pro Expander is available in Avid Channel Strip, the Pro Series plug-ins are not included. Revibe II is also not included. I’m concerned about the omissions from the full bundle and whether they leave any weaknesses in the offer that I think would hurt the appeal. By omitting Revibe II, II expects Reverb to be well served. In addition to D Verb (which I’ve always found to be OK for drums, but I wouldn’t use it on certain tonal materials), Reverb One is also included. Great to see this. Additionally, considering the number of guitarists I anticipate using Pro Tools Artist, it’s helpful to include the full Eleven MKII as well as the stripped-down version of Eleven Lite. Many of the plug-ins in this batch are quite old, but they are very useful, and you can say the same thing about some of the very old plug-ins that come with Logic Pro.
Comparing the list of plug-ins included in the full bundle with the bundle included with Pro Tools Artist, the plug-ins that are not available to Pro Tools Artist users but are available at higher levels are:
