What is all this for?
That’s the question at the heart of Randleman Season 1 Episode 9, and like every question on the show, there’s no easy answer.
But at least one person may no longer have a chance to find it.
Is it too late for Monty to learn a life lesson?
We might as well start with Randleman’s most significant character development to date, which makes Cooper’s multiple beatings seem outlandish.
While we don’t have firm confirmation of his death, it would be a miracle if Monty survives to the Randleman finale.
However, Tommy’s final scene alone is enough to prove that his friend is gone.
Monty devoted all his energy to pursuing wealth in order to make a living, but he abandoned his family. Many people learn this lesson too late when it comes to change, and Monty suffered four heart attacks and three bypasses before it was too late to change his story.
When Tommy visits Monty in the hospital, Cami seems to be preparing for the worst.
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones visited Monty to share his success story, which stemmed from his desire to spend more time with his family, a far cry from Monty’s own experience.
The fear on Monty’s face said it all, but it’s hard to know if he was truly focused and considering a change, or if his mind was still on the game.
Maybe a bit of both.
Tommy and Rebecca are the future of M-Tex
Promoting Tommy to VP is long overdue, showing that Monty is willing to step aside, but offering Rebecca the full-time VP of Exploration position solely based on Rebecca’s savvy negotiating skills and “killer” attitude shows that Monty’s heart remains business first and people second.
Maybe this is the story we’ve been waiting for, bringing Demi Moore’s Cami into the fold.
If Monty died or was even incapacitated in some way, the business would likely be in her hands. Despite Monty’s business acumen, it seemed odd that there was no clear path to succession.
But he was also the kind of guy who thought he could live longer simply by changing his lifestyle. As we discussed in our review of The Randleman Season 1 Episode 8, there’s no point in letting your stress levels undermine your health while delivering the joy of life.
But that’s just how Monty lived.
randman is a soap opera
Like Taylor Sheridan’s other shows, “Randleman” is a soap opera at its core. It will be incredibly dramatic as Tommy and Rebecca try to work together, leaving the business in Cami’s hands.
Tommy may have a short temper, but his compassion and empathy are boundless. Rebecca just escaped from both situations. The idea of watching them navigate the intricate depths of the oil industry is promising.
From my perspective, it’s a nightmare, and I’m not alone.
Nate didn’t know what it meant to work for Rebecca, but if she approached negotiations like a lawsuit, there was little hope of building bridges and high odds of burning them.
consequences of military action
Whether or not Monty survives, the cartel’s mess needs to be resolved before any new working relationship can begin.
Calling in the military for a round of military exercises to scare off drug cartels seems like a good idea. But that theory was put to the test when the Olympics claimed real civilian lives.
The reserve commander panicked. He had the impression that there was no one in that land. Tommy told him there were no oil workers there, but he never said there weren’t others.
Although from a rational person’s perspective Tommy appears to be a cartel, there is no set of rational rules for working with criminals.
They’ve outsmarted him by stalking him, a development that surprises Tommy. They need to meet and discuss a future where they can prosper together without constant fighting. But Tommy is no longer alone in this battle, which is far more dangerous than it sounds.
Rebecca is a loose cannon
When we first meet Rebecca, she reveals she has the heart of an activist. She knows the hot social rules and when to push them to achieve her agenda.
But can you imagine her situation being similar to Tommy’s situation in the first episode of “Randleman” season 1?
Can she really do well in this situation?
If Monty left, there would be no time to reassess what having her on the payroll would mean, but she would also lose her only ally.
At this point, we don’t know what her thoughts are, but things could go either way for Rebecca.
Rick’s Cabaret Bucket List
Angela and Ainsley continue to add comedy to the show.
In Landman’s promotional interviews, the show was considered funny – Sheridan’s funniest yet.
Aside from Ainsley and Angela, there’s nothing to laugh about here. Life is full of laughter and pain because anything else would break us, but for real laughter, women are the focus.
Of course, they want to help people in nursing homes fulfill their sexual wish lists. Of course, Ainsley wants Ryder to help them get results for the ladies.
Can we also rely on Ainsley to constantly remind Tommy that he asked her to lie to him about what she did, so he can pretend to believe them in return?
At least this time, with Tommy’s help, we get to know Angela a little more.
Angela tries too hard when she doesn’t have to
No matter how you look at it, Tommy was having a rough day. He was so moved by Monty’s plight that he called Angela and said, “I love you.” He saw the future, he had lost his family, he was crying outside the hospital room, and he wanted to be on the right side.
But no sooner had he expressed his love than he began to disparage the meal Angela had prepared. Sure, the paella deal was weird, but she had no idea how bad his day was because he didn’t tell her.
He tried to get away from it because every day was the same to him but this day was different from the others. However, he did say what he needed to say, which was that Angela was trying too hard when she already had his love. She doesn’t need to be nice to be appreciated.
He would always be grateful to her and all she had done, but if she was doing it expecting something in return, she was barking up the wrong tree.
She’s a slow learner, but she’s a good cook and does a lot of preparation for her performances. I have hope for her. By the end of season two, I think everyone will be glad she’s around – including you.
Cooper carries out his plan
Cooper is such a good kid. He cares about others and is honest as a badge. He doesn’t like feeling like he’s worthless, and he has big dreams that he can’t wait to achieve.
Cooper now seems to be fully supportive of Ariana. He’s working on their future together, even if she’s not ready to take that step yet. But his charming demeanor is irresistible, and he doesn’t have to try too hard to woo her.
Initially, she tells him she can’t believe “this” and wants him to focus on herself.
But he had this dream, but he didn’t think he had the ability to pursue it. It’s like he was against Monty from the beginning. His greatest fear is not to indulge in the chase.
I can’t help but wonder if Monty’s death wasn’t Cooper’s chance to shine.
By the end of “Wolf Camp,” Cooper has put his plan into action. Will he compete with M-Tex, or help his father take the company in a new direction? I felt a fusion of these stories.
Do you think Monty is dead?
Is Cooper the future of M-Tex?
Can Tommy and Rebecca work together?
Are the pieces of Angela’s puzzle starting to come together?
