Are all Will and Em shippers happy? Because The Rescue: HI-Surf Season 1 Episode 8 finally did something with the pair and injected a lot of life into the storyline.
Of course, we all knew it would get here eventually, but we didn’t know when.
Doing it now, before the wedding, and whatever is going on at the station could make for some exciting storylines.
After watching Season 1, Episode 7 of The Rescue, I was not impressed with the show’s personal drama, but it was driven by the emergency.
That’s the best part, but even I have to admit that this rescue was once again easy but one of the best moments of the season.
Maybe they just need the right drama to really make an impression.
Will and Em’s saga has been around since before we met them, and I always enjoy the moments when Raka walks away in the background, and they love it so much when the two of them stare into each other’s eyes.
We still only know bits and pieces of their history, but they clearly turned heartbreak into a very strong and respectful friendship. This doesn’t hide the fact that they still love each other, but it gives them the motivation to try!
It’s perfectly reasonable for Julie to not want Em to attend the wedding, and perhaps Em has no right to be offended. However, this likely has less to do with the snub and more to do with the reality of Will moving on.
I’ve been waiting for these two to have a big fight where they actually talk to each other about the current situation because it often feels like they’re dancing around everything.
They’re a well-oiled machine in every way except how they express their conflicting and complicated feelings about each other and Will’s impending marriage.
Em had no idea that Sonny sending her to berate Will was a test, but it did give her some final insight into his relationship, which I know she’d been sitting on.
Will immediately jumps to her being jealous or hurt and not doing her job which is disappointing, but that’s where personal and professional lines get blurred when you work with someone you love.
Is this part of the reason for their breakup? Is it because Em became a lieutenant? Dating a subordinate is generally frowned upon in all jobs, but we need to know more about their history to know if this is the case.
It makes sense, especially since we’ve heard multiple times that Em wants to advance her career, but I find it hard to believe that’s the only reason things aren’t going well. They liked each other too much to let work end their relationship.
But here and now, the quarrel between these two people did not last long, because they were Will and Em. They are truly best friends, and when help comes, it’s the two of them who step up together and save the world.
The paragliding rescue was great. They rescued Kurt and then realized that, based on the limited information they had, they might never have known there was a second person.
How terrifying would it be to be sucked into an underwater cave and basically be trapped there, not knowing if anyone was coming or how fast the tide would rise?
Prior to airing, promotions for the show often talked about how dangerous these waters were, and the show made a strong effort to show how dangerous the oceans can be and the need to respect them.
The poor lady was washed up in a cave and must have been very scared.
We had seen all the lifeguards at different times in dire straits themselves, but seeing Em and Will in those caves created a new fear within me. What if they can’t turn around?
What if they think they are heading toward an air pocket, but in fact there is no air pocket? All assumptions!
You won’t see anything like it anywhere else on television, which is why Rescue: HI-Surf stands out.
How did they film it? How did you come up with it? The questions are endless!
After coming out of that rescue, Em got the applause she deserved, and after talking to Sonny (more on him later!), she was probably feeling a rush of adrenaline and a range of mixed emotions.
Em believes her dream is about to come true, and I’m sure there’s no one in the world who would rather celebrate with her than Will. But since this is not possible, the best thing to do is to apologize and reconcile with her personally.
I wasn’t a fan of this pairing at first, but they’ve grown and everything about them in this hour is compelling.
Em’s apology and Will holding her in his arms after she admits she missed her chance are the stuff of your favorite romantic comedies. You just knew they were going to kiss because they had so many emotions flowing through them after that day.
But Will drove off in that big truck and almost drove away? Oh, I yelled at the TV! He couldn’t leave her so vulnerable and uncertain, luckily he came to his senses, but what now?
Now they’ve all crossed that line. Both of them are liars. But did it end with that kiss? Are they in an official relationship? Or do they remember why it didn’t work out the first time and pretend they can get back to the status quo?
Two people worth pondering!
After telling his wife that he wanted to retire, Sonny had a lot to think about. He was right to go to the chief first, but he was wrong not to listen to his advice.
God loves Sonny, but the Chief tells him quite bluntly that he can’t just promise Em his job, which he does.
While his intentions may be noble, especially now that she’s just proven why she’s the right person for the job, he should never have made such a promise to her.
It won’t ultimately be up to him, and it would be heartbreaking if the job wasn’t given to her and she was ignored by someone else the Chief owed her.
I still don’t believe Sonny rode off into the sunset, and I believe it more than ever that he told Em too soon that it might come back to bite them both in the ass.
Elsewhere in this fun moment, we continue to experience Kainaru and Sheena’s days as roommates, with the walls slowly being peeled back. These two have a lot more in common than they care to admit, and you can tell Kainaru is working on it.
In The Rescue: HI-Surf Season 1 Episode 1, you can still see the shadow of this arrogant kid on the beach, asking his dad to help him achieve his dream. But he is getting further and further away from this goal.
He and Sheena become an adorable little duo when they allow themselves to forget everything and enjoy each other’s company.
Please give me some advice! Please give us more of their roommate shenanigans, thank you.
Additional rescue instructions
- Laka worked very hard, but one miscommunication ruined everything with Jenn. Honestly, it’s her loss. However, Raqqa could have been tougher on the women on the beach.
- Julie didn’t even want to hear Will talk about his day. They want people not to support Will and Em?
There’s a lot to discuss after this and we only have an hour left before they take a break until next year.
