latest episode Rescue: HI-Surf The first is a warning that big waves are coming, meaning only experienced surfers should go out (Even for experienced surfers – it’s best to be cautious).
A father and daughter soon learn how rough the water can be when their boat capsizes. Fortunately, Raka, Sheena, and Kainaru are nearby and able to assist. The father said he had been in these waters for many years and had never experienced anything like this. To me, this interaction set the tone of the episode perfectly. Laca even told the rookies, “No matter what you think you know, the sea is not playing today.”

When the team received the mission and prepared to set off, Kainaru received a call from his father. This doesn’t look pleasant and we find out that his father wants him to take the day off. Even though they were going to be busy that day, I was shocked when he asked Sonny for time off and it was granted. Without hesitation, I think he is still soft on Kainaroo. Will he let Will or Laka get away with it? (Absolutely not).
When Kainaru meets his father, it turns out it’s not an emergency: his father wants him to take some people around the island who might be beneficial to his campaign. If that wasn’t enough to make me annoyed with his dad, he just stood there and watched this woman butcher Kainaru’s name and then decided she wasn’t even going to try and just shorten it(This man’s boldness).

The team went to the beach to continue monitoring and stopping people from approaching the beach. If you are not an experienced surfer (This sentence feels repetitive, but it needs to be emphasized.) or at least some rescuers know that you will be rejected. As Sonny gets his team ready for the crazy day ahead, two kids try to get into the water. He stopped them, saying they needed his permission to enter. Why does she never go to school?) He realized they were her friends and relaxed about the two teens; he let them into the water.
The number of surfers has been declining over time – thankfully, nothing too bad (However). Emily and Jenn are also riding the wave; it’s great to see them relaxing and enjoying themselves. We all know Emily is perfectly capable of handling herself in the water, right, but I couldn’t help but notice that Will was always worried about her. Will, by the way, is engaged, and he can’t help but care about her well-being. Hmm…interesting.

Noah, friend of the sea (Maybe a boyfriend?), was getting ready for the wave, and he was doing great. As the waves grew larger, Sheena was called to assist with the rescue. She was visibly nervous and was glad to see Sonny wasn’t so harsh on her. So maybe it’s not just him being easy on Kainaroo.
Speaking of which, Kainaru is still working as a tour guide. I don’t like his father – he clearly throws everything he did for Kainaru back, which means he didn’t do it out of love for his son. But then again, Kainaroo does take them, so maybe it’s time to stop making dad pay for everything. Still, this transformation is crazy when his dad basically lets him know that if he doesn’t comply with his demands, he’ll have nothing.
We’re back at sea with Noah, but this time? He didn’t do too well; a huge wave knocked him over and he was injured. Sonny and Sheena come to the rescue and manage to get him to safety. The poor child’s nose was broken and two teeth were knocked out (At least the ocean isn’t too phased by this).

Kainaru’s father is the worst; it’s like he has no respect for the working class (Keeping Kainaru off shifts means they will be short-staffed, which is an issue they are trying to solve). This is my second week saying this but I’m so proud of Kainaru; standing up for himself with his dad is not easy for him (Because we saw before how easily he folded). I don’t think he has the ability because he obeyed his father’s orders before.
The last ten minutes of this episode are difficult to watch, and bring us back to what Larca said earlier, “No matter what you think you know, the sea is out today.” Rocky is an experienced surfer, but he can’t adapt to these waters; he gets knocked down by the crazy waves. When Sonny and Sheena go out to look for him, they find him and Sheena grabs him, but he slips out from under her and they lose him. The rescue will not happen a second time. Sheena ignored Sonny’s orders and went back to try to find him, now in need of rescue herself. Loki was never found.
I can only imagine what this would do to Sonny. He was completely lost in Sheena (Understandably─Sheena is reckless) But even if his reaction was correct, we all know it had more to do with losing Zion. Emily calls him out (It’s time someone did this) I hope this is a sign that Sonny is getting real help. I’m concerned about how everyone on the team is going to recover from this loss.
