This week’s throwback trailer is for the 1963 film directed by Mario Bava black sabbath. This is one of my favorite horror movies and if you’ve never seen it you have to check it out!
This is a horror anthology film made up of three different stories, each exploring different aspects of fear and the supernatural. I loved the horror visuals this movie had to offer.
The first story, “Telephone”, A tense psychological thriller follows a woman named Rosie who receives a series of threatening phone calls from a mysterious stalker.
Second paragraph, “Udurak” is a gothic horror story about a nobleman who encounters a family haunted by the legend of Udurak, a vampiric creature that preys on their loved ones.
The story is set in the desolate countryside and stars Boris Karloff, who gives a chilling performance as the patriarch himself who might become an Udurak.
final story, “A Drop of Water” is a supernatural horror sequence about a nurse who steals a ring from the body of a dead psychic, only to be tortured by the deceased’s vengeful spirit. The story ends with a nightmare ending.
black sabbath Blending psychological tension, gothic horror, and supernatural horror, each story evokes a different form of fear.
The film is famous for Bava’s masterful use of color and shadow and its influence on later horror films.
