During the chat, the pair turned their attention to the music world of the 1980s and emerging documentaries Yacht Rock: A DocumentarySimmons is an executive producer on the show.
“That’s the other thing about yacht rock,” Simmons said, focusing on negative attitudes toward the genre in recent years. “These songs are truly some of the biggest hits of the year; Grammy-winning songs.
“[The Doobie Brothers‘] Minute by Minute won a Grammy, and Christopher Cross won four Grammys. Toto had a big win at the Grammys. Toto’s performance at the Grammys was outrageous. Like the Grammys backlash. They were like, ‘Who the hell are these guys?’
Lowe refutes Simmons’ claims about Toto’s success at the 1983 Grammy Awards (they won Toto IV and featured the single “Rosanna”) recalled that he had also been involved with the Los Angeles rock band.
“I bought you one.
