Roland Emmerich (independence Day, Godzillaand those who are about to die) and Marco Weber (Thirteenth floor) is developing a live-action TV series based on a Web3 RPG game space nation online.
Space Nation Inc. said in a statement: “The series will chart the origins of an epic story that begins with the recently soft-launched Space Nation Online, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) that transports players to a distant place.
The series will be developed and executive produced by Emmerich and Webber, who also co-founded the game developer Space Nation Jerome Wu and Don Tony.
“We want to take an approach that’s consistent with the overall philosophy of what we’re doing in terms of gameplay and the economy,” Weber said.
“We may sell a second window to one of the streamers, but it’s all on a licensing basis. We’re not looking for streamers to come in and buy the IP directly. Our goal is to be able to leverage our own economics and Our own token to fund a large portion of the budget.
They want the company to focus on “the first cross-media IP covering video games, online content and TV/streaming media.” They also received $50 million in funding.
“I came to this project through Marco, and he was very excited about it, and whatever he was excited about, I was excited about, too,” Emmerich said.
“We discussed that I had to develop my own [Web3] Spaceships, blah, blah, blah. So it’s possible to buy a spaceship that I designed – but it’s just one of the many products we offer.
“We also wanted to offer a TV show. A TV show that showed the origin of the whole situation, because aliens came to Earth and destroyed it and we had to go to space.
Weber added: “Jerome, Tony, Roland and I wanted to make sure from the beginning that people realized this was a very solid, long-term story that we wanted to develop.
“That includes games first, the platform we’ve built, and now, in the next step, will include some of the cross-media IP that we want to develop so that all users can see that this isn’t like a quick cash grab where people are trying to launch a promised game of tokens, and then they’re out.
“It’s quite the opposite. We’ve launched the game through a management buyout and money raised from venture capital and investors, close to $50 million, but we haven’t launched a token or anything because we’re first To stabilize the ecosystem, that’s our main concern right now, and we’re doing a good job.
Before the launch of Space Nation Online, Emmerich, Weber and filmmaker Martin Weisz (The Hills Have Eyes 2) has released a series of free animated shorts featuring the character Zoey (voiced and performed by the actress) Winona Weber), an alien teenage space pirate, and her ill-fated attempt to go viral.
space nation online written in leadJesse LeBeau Weber joins as co-author. A spin-off of the short is also currently in development.
