After an eight-month hiatus, rookie Season 7 premieres Tuesday, January 7th on ABC! It was a long wait, but the first episode made it all worth it.
Recalling last season’s finale, the LAPD was infiltrated by a dirty new psychiatrist, Blair London, who betrayed the officer’s secrets to Monica Stevens. Blair is arrested, Monica is running somewhere in the mountains of Argentina, Nolan is shot in the butt, and the police officer tapes are in the hands of the FBI. Meanwhile, Oscar Hutchinson and Jason Wheeler (Bailey’s ex-husband) escape from prison, making the season suspenseful.

Now, the season seven premiere, “One Shot,” picks up right where the finale left off, with Nolan (Nathan Fillion) battling injuries and age while searching for two fugitives. Then, after the jump, we meet the latest newcomers – Miles Payne (played by Derek Augustine) and Seth Ridley (played by Patrick Kelleher, making his TV debut ! We have Tim (Eric Winter) and Lucy (Melissa O’Neil) as training officers making flirtatious bets on their new cadet, Selina (Leese Chavez). Lisseth Chavez) is finally wearing short sleeves (apparently, it’s never too late.) Meanwhile, Wesley (Sean Ashmore) discovers something he wishes he could forget…

The stakes are higher than ever in this episode. It really goes back to its roots and fulfills Hawley’s promise of “re-piloting” (via TV Insider)some callbacks to the first episode. Viewers will find themselves intrigued by both rookies and excited about Chenford’s arrival. Come and bet!
This is a premiere worth watching!

Character of the week: Lucy Chen
Lucy gets the temporary TO position and immediately knocks it out of the park. Rookie Seth Ridley may need a lot of work, but Lucy is determined to train him in a way that suits her personal style rather than copying other TO’s methods – while still aiming to beat Tim in a bet!

Best ships of the week: Wopez
Wesley and Angela’s relationship was really pushed to the background in season six, but they started off strong in the premiere!
(I promise, Chenford is a close second! But Wopez does deserve their flowers.)
