Ryan Reynolds admits he was ‘ashamed’ of having to cut Rob McElhenney’s work Deadpool and Wolverine cameo, especially after he flew to London to film the scene.

McElhenny is not only a close friend of the actor but also a co-owner of Wrexham Football Club, which made the decision even more difficult. this It’s always sunny in Philadelphia alum was originally slated to star as a Time Change Authority soldier in the record-breaking Marvel movie.

“A word about my ‘dear’ friend @robmcelhenney. Rob was kind enough to guest star in #DeadpoolAndWolverine and hopefully this will continue with several extras,” Reynold wrote on Instagram on Friday. “When editing a movie, they say you ‘sometimes have to kill your darlings. It is with a heavy heart (and through heavy outside intervention) that I had to kill off a loved one with this cameo.

this free man The star said they ultimately cut the scene because “it didn’t fit with the way we originally built it.”

“Rob is the only reason it stayed in the edit for so long, because even beneath the TVA mask and helmet, you could feel him burning with raw, almost limitless talent, writer’s wit and ‘I created it.'” Hot TV’s show of ‘swagger’,” he said. “Don’t get me started on Wrexham. I wouldn’t have known love like @wrexham_afc without Rob McElhenney.

Reynolds went on to explain how “expectations” are sometimes the most stressful part of making a movie, but having the support of a loved one like McElhenny makes it easier.

“I loved making this movie, but it wasn’t without its stress. There’s a lot of anticipation – and I’m pretty sure the best-written villain in the history of cinema is Anticipation,” he added in an Instagram post. “It feels good to have friends around when you’re doing something stressful. Even though I’m ashamed that he flew all the way to London for a cameo that wasn’t meant to be, I’m grateful that my friend was on set with me. When I saw Rob, my heart rate slowed down and my nervous system stopped yelling at me that he was there for people and then he was in front of me.

“As he begged for his life, Arios unsuspectingly snatched his body into the air, swallowed him whole, and ultimately digested and turned him into Arios’ feces,” Reynolds concluded. “RIP TVA Soldier.”

Although McElhenny did not make the final cut Deadpool and Wolverinethe film still has plenty of surprise cameos, including Jennifer Garner reprising her role as Elektra and Wesley Snipes returning as Blade. Channing Tatoo also stars as Gambit and Blake Lively plays Ms. Deadpool.
