Samara Weaving and Radio Silence hit the red carpet again.
The actresses and filmmaking team, including Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Taylor Gillette and Chad Villella, will reunite for the shoot ready or not 2is the sequel to Searchlight Pictures’ 2019 hit black comedy-horror film.
The film, written by Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy, follows a bride, played by Weaving, as she learns about her wedding night ritual: Benefit The story of drawing a card in the Solitaire game. While playing the game, if someone pulls out the Hide and Seek card like she does, a killing game is played, all to appease an ancient family’s deal with the devil.
The cast includes Adam Brody, Henry Czerny and Andie MacDowell.
ready or NotCosting only $6 million to produce, it grossed over $28 million at the domestic box office, making Searchlight the most widely released film at the time. It received strong reviews, praising its ability to provide suspense and kills while also making social commentary. Its reputation and profitability in the home entertainment market continue to grow.
Tripp Vinson, Bradley J. Fisher, William Sherak and James Vanderbilt will return as producers. Villela and Talafani will serve as executive producers.
No filming or plot details were revealed, but Busiek and Murphy will also be returning to write the film.
News of the sequel broke the same night that Searchlight screened the film at the El Capitan Theater in Hollywood. “Weaving” and “Radio Silence” are expected to attend the post-screening Q&A
Vice president of production Richard Ruiz and creative director Cornelia Burleigh will oversee Searchlight’s projects, reporting to co-heads of production and development DanTram Nguyen and Katie Goodson-Thomas.
