In a sketch on the Dec. 7 show hosted by Paul Mescal, saturday night live Actor Heidi Gardner plays a fictional BuzzFeed reporter on the red carpet for the new Bob Dylan biopic, which stars Chalamet as the legendary folk musician. The sketch opens with Chalamet (Chloe Fineman) admitting that he’s going through a “Brat Summer,” referring to the trend inspired by Charli XCX.
“Oh, man, this is crazy. Crazy,” Fineman’s Chalamet said.
As the two continued talking, Dylan (voiced by saturday night liveJames Austin Johnson strolled over and was asked if he, too, had had a “boy summer.” “What?” the iconic musician responded. “A kid’s summer,” Gardner’s reporter repeated. “Do you have a brat summer?” Dylan was clearly thinking about food, but mistakenly posed the question thinking he was asking about sausages.
“All this talk about sausages woke up my hunger,” Johnson’s Dylan says in the artist’s signature husky voice. “I heard there’s a popular bar at the end of here, so please excuse me.”
The conversation continues on the red carpet as Bruce Springsteen (played by Andrew Dismukes) joins the cast. “Baby, I was born to see this movie,” the boss declared. When Dylan asked Sting if he liked the hot bar, Dismucus’ Sting responded: “Of course I do, Bob. The resonance may be small, but the flavor is big.”
Next up is U2 frontman Bono (voiced by Gladiator II When asked about his own brat summer, Bono responded: “I don’t have a brat summer. No way. With the intense heat coming from climate change. We have to act now.” Bono of mezcal continued: “I just Watched a documentary about the devastating effects of global warming and it was called. hot frost”, referring to a new holiday movie from Netflix.
Completely unknownThe film, which will be released on Christmas Day, also stars Elle Fanning, Monica Barrow and Edward Norton. The biographical drama was inspired by Elijah Wald’s 2015 book Dylan goes electric. Director James Mangold revealed that Dylan himself gave feedback on the script.
Fans first spotted Chalamet filming in New York earlier this year. Mangold confirmed Chalamet will sing in the film himself, and to prepare, the actor sifted through 12 hours of unreleased Dylan tracks sent to him by Dylan’s longtime manager and producer Jeff Rosen .
