The Ghosts of Split River High School is scary enough, but Paramount+ just made an even scarier move.
The streaming platform announced this morning that Season 2 of School Spirits will premiere on Thursday, January 30, with three episodes.
While we’re excited to find some much-needed solutions to the many mysteries that School Spirit season 1 has given us, the fact that it’s airing in just over a week is concerning.
Promotions can make or break any project, so premiere date announced this Being close to a debut date doesn’t mean many people will find it.
“School Spirit” has a loyal audience for its first season, but it’s hard to say whether they will receive word in time that new episodes are coming.
Genre shows are disappearing before our eyes, and the last thing we want is School Spirit to face a similar fate.
In the weeks following the Season 1 finale of School Spirit , we’ve all been on edge, waiting with baited breath to find out if the show has reached the level of thrills that the streaming service would be happy to bring back for another season. level.
The show did get a second window on Netflix, allowing countless new viewers to find it.
A promotional train may be imperative so that these viewers get the message that these episodes are exclusive to Paramount+.
School Spirit Season 2 has a lot to cover
The second season of “School” will have eight episodes, the same as the first season.
Considering it’s well paced and filled with horrific events, it’s a good idea to keep the episode order the same.
Despite being excited for the series’ return, Paramount+’s poor job in the promotion department so far has forced me to lower my expectations.
The good news is that the trailer promises some big developments, including Maddie facing whether she’s alive, dead, or trapped between life and death.
The beauty of this dilemma is that she spent much of the first season of School Spirit worrying that she was missing out on things in her life.
Now, her assumption was that she might have another chance, assuming she could catch up with Janet.
But that’s going to be difficult, because Janet was last seen fleeing town in the back of a bus after the revelation that she was living inside Maddie’s body.
Maddie works well with her best friend Simon, who gets to see her after her supposed death.
Excitingly, we already know they’ll be working together in season 2 to uncover the truth about the school, Janet, and Mr. Martin.
Mr. Martin will play a key role in the second season of “School”
Of course, Mr. Martin poses as the deceased’s counselor, luring all the deceased students into a false sense of security.
No one questioned his motives and everyone assumed he was there to help.
But that’s not the case, and we hope the show explores that directly in the season premiere.
“School Spirit” breaks through because it subverts our expectations and flips the script when we least expect it.
“School Spirit” stars Peyton List as Maddie Niles, Christian Ventura as Simone Ellroy, Spencer Macpherson as Xavier Baxter, Chiara Pichardo as Nicole Herrera, Sarah Yakin as Rhonda, Nick Progliese as Charlie, Rainbow Weddle as Claire Zomer, Josh Zuckerman as Mr. Martin , starring Milo Manheim as Wally Clark.
New cast members this season include Jesse Garbo (Shameless) who guest stars as Janet Hamilton, Zach Calderon as Diego Herrera (The Wild One), Miles Elliott (“The Amazing Spider-Man”) and Ma Cihang (“Magic School”) as Quinn.
Maria Dizzia, who plays Maddie’s mother Sandra Niles, will also return as a guest star, along with Patrick Gilmore as Mr. Anderson and Ian Tracy as Sheriff Baxter.
