Scott Foley is returning to television!
The actor, who first won over audiences with “Dawson’s Creek” and “Felicity,” is the latest star to join the cast of Will Trent’s third season.
TV Line reported today that Foley will play a recurring character who becomes romantically entangled with one of the show’s most beloved characters.
Foley will play Dr. Seth McDair, “a confident and pragmatic director of the emergency department at a local hospital and Angie’s new love interest.”
Of course, the beloved TV vet is no stranger to playing charismatic love interests on ABC dramas.
He appeared in 15 episodes of Grey’s Anatomy, playing the husband of Kim Raver’s Teddy Altman.
Ironically, Scott had to participate in a crime procedural to finally get the chance to play the doctor!
Foley is the latest of several newcomers to the world of Will Trent.
The show’s third season will feature an impressive cast, including Gina Rodriguez in the regular role of Marion Alba.
Alba is described in her official bio as “a charismatic, confident Assistant District Attorney new to Atlanta.”
“After her first encounter with Will goes awry, the two are surprised to find they must work together to investigate the crimes of Atlanta’s gang world,” the description continues.
The new season will also feature guest appearances from a number of well-known stars, including Ariana Madix of “Vanderpump Rules” fame.
Desire for the show to return has already reached fever pitch, and we’re sure today’s casting news will only heighten anticipation further.
Unfortunately, Will Trent die-hards will still have to wait a while.
The show is not expected to return until January 7.
While the bizarre crime drama will run essentially non-stop, its mid-season premiere date will mean only 18 episodes.
It will be the show’s longest season yet, but still slightly below what fans expected after last year’s strike-shortened run.
