2024 short films shadow of violence Proof that memory is, or can be, murder: coexistence and erasure.
This is his third short film as screenwriter and producer, written by Erdeniz Tunç. Can Saghir direct? shadow of violence Ahmet Atakul plays the protagonist Cenk.
story
A doctor is questioning Cenk. He talked about the young man’s good upbringing and how surprised he was to see someone like Cenk there. The young man says nothing, instead we see what has brought him to this situation. During two dates with his friend Batu, Cenk went to smoke. When he returned, his life was forever changed.
This works
Only about 6 and a half minutes shadow of violence It works great. The story itself is told through flashbacks. We see the beginning of this fateful night and follow it to its fatal conclusion.
Saghir expertly edited this short film. He blends each scene perfectly in order to let us in on the film’s undeniable truth. The director, who also serves as producer, editor and cinematographer, could very well be the next Robert Rodriguez.
*Rodriguez’s films are known as a cottage industry. He does everything.
Atakul plays the obviously conflicted Cenk aptly. In interviews, his face reveals his journey back into the shadow of violence. Flashbacks show him to be a good guy and having a great time with his friend Batu Serkan Üzüm.
Kudos to Cahit Kasikcilar for playing the doctor in this short film. He conveys a range of emotions. What’s even more admirable about being Cenk is that the character doesn’t react to anything.
a complaint
The night sequence is real dark. It’s hard to watch these characters as they act out the aftermath of the robbery scene. Still, that’s the only complaint. shadow of violence (Shadows of Violence), as mentioned above, is very beautiful.
judgment
shadow of violence It’s a 4.5 star effort. I did deduct half a star for the darkness issue. There’s some violence, some might say shadows of violence, and very little gore. No bad language or nudity. The film can be viewed on YouTube. Go check it out and see what you think.
This is wonderful filmmaking. Kudos to the team who put this together.
