The love triangle is now complete.
British actor Shazza Latif stars opposite Lily James in romantic comedy What does love have to do with it?Starring alongside Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi in Emerald Fennell’s hit film adaptation Wuthering Heights. Both MRC and Warner Bros. are backing the film, which will distribute it after acquiring the film in a tortuous bidding war.
Emily Bronte’s 1847 novel, considered one of the greatest literary masterpieces, follows the Linton family and their tumultuous relationship with the Earnshaws’ adopted son, Heathcliff. For Fennell, Elodie plays Heathcliff, while Robbie plays Heathcliff’s crush, Catherine Earnshaw.
Latif will play Edgar Linton, a wealthy neighbor who falls in love with and marries Catherine, but then must contend with Heathcliff, who returns and becomes obsessed with Catherine and Eunuch. The Shaw family retaliates.
Filming will begin in late January in the UK.
MRC is financing the project alongside LuckyChap, the banner run by Robbie, Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara, based at and produced by Warner Bros. Fennell wrote the script and will serve as director and producer.
Latif plays Dr. Jekyll on Showtime penny horror movies series and played Security Chief Ash Tyler in it Star Wars: Discovery. This year, he stars opposite Daisy Ridley in the neo-noir thriller Magpie premieres at the 2024 SXSW Film Festival and opens in theaters in October.
The actor is also currently playing another literary giant as Captain Nemo. nautilusAMC’s 10-episode series based on the works of Jules Verne Twenty thousand miles under the sea Rather, it is told from the perspective of an Indian prince who is stripped of his birthright and bent on revenge. The show has not yet premiered in the United States, but is available on Amazon Prime Video in the United Kingdom and elsewhere.
