After the overwhelming response to my recent releases A guide to shooting cinematic images with a DSLR, I decided to take it a step further and hold an in-person digital film course this fall. Nothing will quickly improve your knowledge and understanding of the craft of film photography than experiencing it first-hand on a real-life set.

    Digital Film Training Camp

The course will be held over two days in Los Angeles over the weekend of November 22-23. Just like my guide to DSLR movies, this course will cover everything from beginner basics (setting up the exposure triangle, camera profiles, and white balance) to more intermediate and advanced lessons (camera moves, framing, light setup, and more)! ). I’ll even cover color grading and post-production workflow, although the main focus of the course will be production/camera related since we’ll be working in an interactive environment.

Rather than simply covering the ins and outs of capturing film images, this course is designed to give you hands-on experience by simulating the look and feel of real film sets. Together we’ll shoot a variety of scenes and setups using a variety of lighting arrangements, framing choices, camera movements, and other key techniques to illustrate the various ways to approach any given scene. While I will continue to lead sessions throughout the weekend, there will also be ample time for labs and one-on-one training with me. I’ll be demonstrating in person on a variety of cameras (from DSLR to RED), but you’re encouraged to bring your own camera as well so I can give you some specific advice and guidance for your unique rig. In addition to the various cameras we will be using, there will be demonstrations on many other important pieces of gear, such as sliders, booms, various types of lights, and even a Movi! At the end of the weekend, you will have a wealth of knowledge and a wealth of material that you are free to use for any purpose – including your demo reel.

My goal with this intensive course is to give you real-world experience in a way that allows for trial and error, helping you jump-start your career as a photographer. For myself, I learned by actually being on set and filming on location. Although it was a great way to learn, if I could go back and do it again I would jump at the opportunity to take a course that would allow me to learn some industry tricks quickly and efficiently so I could save a lot money.

The course itself will be held in Los Angeles and is open to anyone able to travel to the Los Angeles/Southern California area over the weekend of November 22-23.

    Pricing

Many courses of this nature cost well over $500 a day, and they rarely, if ever, provide the practical experience you get in this bootcamp. To make this course even more accessible, the price is set at just $397, which includes two full days of hands-on training, breakfast and lunch during the course, and a free copy of my Guide to Shooting Cinematic Images with a DSLR so you can Get a head start! For anyone who has already purchased my DSLR Film Guide and wishes to take this course, you will pay the discounted price of $332 ($65 off) – just send an email to info@noamkroll.com I will give you a discount code before you pay.

There are only 25 spots available for this class and I expect they will fill up quickly, so if you are interested in signing up, be sure to sign up soon! You can reserve your seat today by clicking the link below and once I receive your order you will receive a confirmation email containing a downloadable copy of my DSLR Movie Guide.

Looking forward to meeting some of you this fall!
