Slow Horse Episode 4: Frankly speaking

The fourth episode slow horse Seeing the self-centered, aggressive Yank Frank is almost done. Frankly, he lost almost everything. It’s such a relief to see this lunatic taken down. Alas, now is not the time.

    so far

Frank Harkness (Hugo Weaving) is the man who hired the “Terminator” in the third episode. The nearly invincible assassin is back and tasked with taking on Bad Sam (Sean Gilder).

*Side note. I’ve been a fan of Weaving since The Matrix. His American accent isn’t too strong, though. On the Hugo Weaving fan train: Would Pennywise be more interesting in the IT remake if Hugo got the role? Please reply on a postcard.

Frank almost loses everything after his failed attempt to kill Cartwright. The bombing failed miserably, and was the fault of his crew, and seemed to be the final nail in his coffin.

This season’s villains aren’t so easy to get rid of. He managed to appease the king, the prince(?), and went on to issue an edict that completely ousted the Cartwright family.

    Lamb and Tavern

The soft-shoe drag between 2nd Desk and Lamb (Kristin Scott Thomas and Gary Oldman) is fantastic. Lots of sarcasm and vitriol abounded. In many ways, Taverner is Lamb’s ethereal twin. Both men were capable of executing some impressive shady tactics. They will also take risks for “Joe”.

Taverner spends some time with Flyte, who has an exaggerated view of her abilities and is already taking a shot in the new dog’s bow. Giti Rahman is also looking at the allowance for the second desk.

    Flyte – Ruth Bradley

    Rahman – Kiran Sonia Sarwar

    Taverner and Whelan

Channel 2 barely conceals its disdain for new number one Whelan (James Callis). The new head of MI5 wants to scream at the press every time he makes a mistake.

Taverner scolded him, he gave her a chance to apologize, and she shoved that chance up his metaphorical ass.

The pencil-pushing administrator is not a spy and will succumb to the protracted attacks of his deputy. When Taverna gets tired of him, he goes down like a stick rabbit.

    Catherine

Chronic alcoholic secretary Katherine Standish (Saskia Reeves) is “back on track.” Although to be fair, she never really came out. Lamb refused to sign his resignation letter. Now he has brought her back. Her torture will continue as he continues to give her drinks.

Lamb knew deep down that his secretary had potential power. Something to fight off your dog when he barks.

    bad sam

Sic Transit Bad Sam? This “dirty” dog used to work outside the power grid. A house of assassins where American leaders trained their own agents in France. Harkness told the French assassin to take the old dog away. When we last saw Bad Sam, it seemed like he was about to meet his creator.

    wrap up

When River (Jack Lowden) returns to England, he loses his tail on the tube/train station. This is a clear nod to his fall from grace in the first episode of season one. (BTW, it also features a bomb plot device.) *See what we did there?

He returns to where the season began, at David Cartwright’s home. His grandfather’s home. River mentioned the dog again, but was caught by Flyte.

Before that, he had learned that perhaps his ancestral lineage might be biased.

A lot happened in this episode. slow horse It won’t follow a similar path this week. Honestly, the “losers” are exacerbating things.

Honestly. It’s great to see Catherine back. This is a show produced by Apple TV and airs every Wednesday.
