As Small Town enters its season finale, multiple murders significantly raise the stakes.
In the opening seconds of Small Town Season 1 Episode 7, it’s terrifying to see a woman attacked and forced to fight for her life. This makes me restless.
While this case doesn’t appear in the novel, it moves along at a faster pace and makes better use of the characters than Small Town Season 1 Episode 6.
Carl and Corporal Yan discover a disturbing case
Corporal Yan almost collided with a panicked man in the woods. What he showed her disturbed her more than any other case.
This case shows how helpful dogs can be. Callum Syngal’s dog discovered Jane Doe and the poor man was traumatized by what he saw.
He couldn’t concentrate when he saw the woman in this position. Even though he was the first on the scene, he didn’t look like the killer. He was flustered.
The town was abuzz with rumors about whether it was a sinister ritual or whether the body had been dismembered.
As the team discussed which knife to use, another suspect was discovered carved and posed. Are there serial killers or copycat killers?
Corporal Yan had sex with the suspect
It was so refreshing to see Edwina and Isabella boxing at a local MMA gym. We need more scenes of them or Carl and Sid hanging out.
I should have known this scene would be related to one of the cases. Gym owner Gus Cooper becomes the prime suspect in the murder of Janice Doncaster.
He seemed betrayed that Edwina could trust him to do something as disgusting as hurting these women.
The case hit her hard, she found evidence at the gym and knew him as well as she did.
Father-daughter relationship takes priority
Parents won’t do anything for their children. Law & Order highlighted this universal truth a few weeks ago, so I should suspect Gus of covering up his daughter.
His confession seemed too convenient. Although they must regard him as an important figure, Carl and Corporal Yan are not convinced. Only Sid wants to arrest him for two murders and end them, which doesn’t seem like him.
Gus pleads with him to make changes for his daughter, which seems sincere. He didn’t want to disappoint her again.
Carl agrees because he hates disappointing Holly and feels like he’s never good enough at his job. He strives to prove to her that she is everything to him.
It wasn’t until Tommy Cummins mentioned the special bond between father and daughter that Carr put the pieces together.
It’s such an emotional plea when he pleads with Kate to think of her father first.
I’m surprised Carl didn’t arrest Gus for cleaning up the murder, but Gus is already heartbroken that his daughter will lose her scholarship. He wants her to be better than him.
It was a heartbreaking scene.
There are many suspects and it is difficult to arrest them.
This is the first episode of Small Town Murders where I couldn’t guess the legitimate suspect. There are many twists and turns.
Sid thinks Janice’s husband, Ethan, seems suspicious because he never asked about the details of his wife’s death.
He looks like an asshole who sold out an MMA gym to make huge profits with no regard for the vibe of the community or his wife’s opinion. This was the issue they had argued about before she disappeared the night she died.
Although he broke down at first, he didn’t seem that depressed because he had a girlfriend and rushed to tell the police that his wife was also having an affair. Who does this when their spouse dies?
I’m not sure if Devin’s boyfriend Jesse had anything to do with these crimes, but he was overly curious about them and harassed Holly for the details.
He hints that she’s worthless as a friend if she can’t provide them with details about the case, which ultimately opens Devon’s eyes but could put her in danger.
Then there’s Dirty Roger. He gloats about Carl’s inability to solve the case, angering Cassandra. Cassandra was right, it was horrifying – he would make a perfect sociopath.
It might be nothing, but after being rejected by Cassandra, Roger stared at another blonde woman in blue. Did he have a plan to make Gibson police look stupid?
While Gibson police arrested Kate for Janice’s murder, Jane Doe’s case remains a mystery. After all, the two had no contact.
An artist provides Carl with important clues
Frustrated by his inability to recognize Jane Doe from police sketches, Carl decided to take matters into his own hands.
He was in desperate need of help since he asked Cassandra for artist recommendations and they had recently broken up. Thankfully, they were both mature enough to focus on it.
I love that they joke around like old friends, and then she recommends Tommy Cummins (Noah Reed), the high school art teacher who also puts on art exhibits.
Cummins, like Carr, believed that art was personal and a way to understand the depths of someone’s soul. He’s the ideal person to bring Jane Doe back to life.
Carl and his team had a strange feeling when they saw the painting. Corporal Yan thinks she’s seen women pose like this before, while Carl thinks it’s a serial killer.
We can’t wait to learn more about the killer’s motivations and how he chooses his victims.
Over to you, TV fanatics. Are you surprised that multiple murders have multiple suspects?
Who do you think is guilty? Does anyone miss Andy Kendrick?
