The Small Town Murders season 1 finale airs Tuesday, with Carl and his team determined to catch the maniacal serial killer who sculpted and posed these poor women.
The weekly promo and spoiler photos for Small Town Season 1 Episode 8 reveal that Devin and Holly could be his next victims if the Gibsons Police Department doesn’t catch him soon.
This will be a high-stakes case as they try to identify Jane Doe and protect themselves from the fools.
Is Mr. Cummins a mentor or a predator?
Was Carl’s intuition wrong? Sid warns him not to use unknown civilians, and even creepy Jesse senses something is off with the art teacher. Are they right?
Tommy Cummins was interested in Devon and I think it was because she was an aspiring young artist.
I don’t want to see any more sexual grooming stories outside of the mentor-mentee relationship. But judging by the weekly promotional videos and these spoiler photos, something doesn’t seem right.
Cummins took Devin to his private studio, which she normally would have enjoyed, but she looked uncomfortable and he had a black eye.
This makes me worry that she is in danger because she has always trusted him.
Noah Reid and Alisha Newton (My Life with Walter Boy) deliver stellar performances on multiple levels, and we can’t wait to see what happens next.
Identifying patterns in murders
Carr and his team examined the murders and discovered patterns in these crimes. They appear to be evenly spaced apart and all posed in a certain way.
It might help them if they could identify Jane Doe, as it would explain why she was at Gibsons and who she knew.
None of the murder victims over the years had looked alike, so the resemblance between Janice Doncaster and Jane Doe was purely a fluke.
We still don’t know how the real killer chooses his targets, but spoilers tease that some of the poses match familiar artwork.
This makes the prime suspect more immediate, but more dangerous for Devon.
The murderer threatens Holly
Weekly promos suggest the killer is a sadist who enjoys spending time with his victims.
He said there was nothing more personal than comforting someone as the light left their eyes.
To most people, it sounds cute, but not like the killer’s voiceover, especially when he’s teasing Holly about her disappearance.
This again brings us to the idea that if Carl is dealing with one suspect, then maybe there’s another suspect involved.
While Carl would do anything for any Gibsons resident, we know he would go the extra mile to protect his daughter and her best friend.
As the locals begin to doubt his abilities, he will do whatever it takes to catch the killer in time.
Cassandra thinks Roger was involved
Once again we have a special treat for you. Fox showed TV Fanatic an exclusive clip from the season, teasing Cassandra talking to Carl about Roger.
We don’t want to spoil too much, but it looks like Roger is still a suspect in the murder, or he thinks he is because he asked Cassandra to lie about his whereabouts after snatching her car.
It’s a relief that Cassandra goes straight to Carl instead of listening to him.
Watch the exclusive video and let us know if you think Karl and Cassandra shared a moment or if it was just business.
The weekly promotional video also shows Sid and Corporal Yan cornering Roger on the street. They may have found female DNA in his car, belonging to the woman he stalked in Small Town Season 1 Episode 7.
While Mr. Cummins may be the prime suspect, Roger may be his accomplice. Maybe he did it to embarrass Karl, because the women looked disgruntled at the last press conference.
What’s more, Cassandra no longer trusts Carl.
Will Carl and Cassandra realize they are in love and reunite?
Carl and Cassandra have been separated since the end of Small Town Season 1, Episode 6.
In the exclusive clip, Carl fears for her safety but still wants to protect her. Roger continues to show what a kind person he is compared to the mistakes he keeps making.
Hopefully Cassandra realizes she loves Carl and finds a way to deal with his career as a cop.
We don’t want to end the season with them breaking up and wondering if they’ll ever reconcile, but we’re rooting for them.
Season finales are always tricky.
We want them to provide enough of an ending to satisfy the audience, but they also need to be open-ended enough to allow for new stories.
Over to you, TV fanatics. What are you looking forward to seeing in the Small Town season finale?
Do you think Mr. Cummins or Roger is the murder suspect?

The Small Town Season 1 finale will air on Tuesday, November 26 at 8/7c on FOX and the following day on Hulu.
