Six years ago, Khalid and Normani joined forces again with “Love Lies”, a new song “Personal” that entered the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100.
Khalid first announced the two’s new collaboration on social media, which will be released this Friday (December 6).
“The door’s open/You don’t even need a key/You’ve been pushing me relentlessly,” Normani sings in the song, which Khalid teased on Instagram on Sunday (December 1) . “12/6,” he captioned the “personal” clip.
The Insta video was shot on set, with the pair posing in front of a green backdrop. They stop and interact with the camera, bringing the authentic atmosphere of the track to life.
The clip has a candid feel, with a smiling Khalid lip-syncing to their recording: “So sexy, and / You know I’d never be mad at her,” before turning the camera to Norman Before Ni, Normani happened to improvise some perfect bits.
“Put your body on mine/Get intimate,” they sing together in a song that welcomes physical connection.
It’s the season of comfort, and the timing is perfect for their second duet, “Personal.” Following the release of Normani’s debut album in the summer, dopamineand Khalid’s third studio album, sincere.
Six years ago, Normani told advertising billboard Khalid is “one of my closest friends.” Of “Love Lies” — which not only hit the top 10 on the all-genre Hot 100 in 2018 but also hit No. 1 on the pop airplay chart — she said: “We knew this song felt good , but we don’t necessarily know…you hope for the best, but you really don’t know. So it’s been really cool to see it soar and spread its wings and do such amazing things and connect with so many people.
