Sony Music UK has appointed Azi Eftkari as its chief operating officer, effective immediately. Report directly to Jason AlleyAs Chairman and CEO of Sony Music UK and Ireland, she will oversee key operational areas, including the label’s commercial group, and play a key role in shaping the company’s overall growth strategy.
Eftekhari brings two decades of experience in the music and entertainment industry to her new role, most recently as co-president of Universal Music Records, where she managed The Beatles, Elton John, Amy Winehouse, The Rolling Stones and Spice Bands and other global artists the girls of the brand catalog department.
Prior to joining UMG, Azi held a key role at YouTube as Head of Label Relations, where she spearheaded the launch of YouTube Music in Europe and forged a landmark partnership with the BRIT Awards, further cementing her reputation as a music and music Reputation as a cross-cutting innovator. Additionally, she co-leads Remedy Inc., a creative agency delivering music, theater and branding projects.
Eftekhari began her career at Mercury Records, where she worked with Iley as digital and promotional director, contributing to campaigns for artists including U2, Justin Bieber and Rihanna. Her leadership transcends individual companies and she also serves on the boards of the Official Charts Company and the Entertainment Retailers Association, demonstrating her influence within the wider music industry.
