It looks a lot like Homicide – I mean, Elsbeth’s Christmas. It won’t be just snow here this holiday season. Put on your ugly Christmas sweaters, because it’s Elsbeth’s holiday special.
You may need to watch the promo for “Gold, Frankincense, and Murder” to understand the above. Don’t worry, because we’re about to reveal one of the funniest episodes of the season.
That being said, Elsbeth is weird enough for two shows. Add in some holiday cheer and you’ve got some certified Christmas mayhem.
It may be the happiest time of the year, but let’s not forget the crowds, drinking, desperation, gift-giving stress, emotional instability, and empty homes.
This is a difficult time of year for many people and there is always someone who loses their temper. So let’s all thank shows like Elsbeth for keeping us laughing in the good and bad times.
It’s Elsbeth’s happiest time of the year, unless you’re Detective Donnelly
The promo for Elsbeth Season 2 Episode 6 kicks off with the death of the happiest man in the North Pole as a doornail. Someone should let Mrs. Claus know that she now has to take care of the reindeer.
Well, if anyone didn’t drop dead, it wasn’t Elsbeth. At the start of the promo, the main character can be heard saying: “Oh my God. Is that Santa Claus?” as the covered body is pushed out.
Of course, a dead Santa means a murder is happening, but the most exciting part of the trailer is that you get to see a blonde detective working on the case.
That’s right, Molly Price’s Detective Donnelly is back with her brilliant dry humor and well-timed quips, mixed with cynicism and general grumpiness. Donali is a vibe.
Who else could sum up this murder case with New York irony when investigators said “classic Christmas light string shaking and ladder fall impaling reindeer antlers”.
Can you imagine this character giving a eulogy? Her deadpan humor perfectly complements Elsbeth’s over-the-top personality.
I think it’s safe to say that Donnelly has more appearances than any other supporting detective. She was just seen playing poker with the team on Elsbeth Season 2 Episode 5.
Donnelly isn’t the only familiar face to grace the screen in Gold, Frankincense and Murder. “Saturday Night Live” fans are getting ready for an early Christmas dinner filled with murder.
Elsbeth gives viewers the treatment of an SNL alum caught up in a murder case
Some actors have specific talents that you instantly recognize, such as Morgan Freeman’s voice acting. There are certain key identifiers that flood into your memory bank and light up your synapses to identify that person.
In the case of Vaness Bayer, it’s her big, beautiful smile that makes you want to smile. After nearly one hundred and fifty episodes of “Saturday Night Live,” this woman knows how to make her audience laugh.
While many of her roles on the late-night live comedy variety show are iconic, the actor has paved the way for a solid film and television career.
If you like comedies filled with absurdist vampire humor, you should definitely check out Bayer’s performance as Evie Russell, an emotional vampire, in What We Do in the Shadows. Women are hilarious.
Look, Vanessa knows how to turn her strengths into a career. So while it can be challenging to cast her in a serious dramatic role, her comedic roles are virtually endless.
When you’re laughing your ass off at Bayer in “Elsbeth,” you can continue to watch her laugh in other shows like “Barry” and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine.”
Whose murder bingo card was impaled on reindeer antlers?
The official synopsis for Elsbeth Season 1, Episode 6 reads: “After Dirk is killed in a freak accident, celebrity Christmas curators Dirk and Didi Darthus (Vanessa Bay) (played by Er) turned from glitz to tragedy.
“Elsbeth begins to suspect that his wife is behind the murder. Meanwhile, Elsbeth (Kelly Preston) gets a holiday surprise from Wagner and Kaya.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t it always the spouse? This feels like an open and closed case, which means the writers will probably fill this episode with enough camp and quirks to last into the New Year.
What other show could feature a homicidal killer named Diddy who wears festive clothing? Elsbeth always does the right thing for the audience. Just the killing method is already a kind of enjoyment.
Whose murder bingo card was impaled on reindeer antlers? No one?
Interestingly, the show has yet to feature the piercing, but the writers saw an opportunity to make the holiday even more popular.
The real mystery, however, lies at the end of Gold, Frankincense, and Murder’s description. What will Officer Kaya and Captain Wagner do?
Enjoy the holidays now, Elsbeth, because winter is technically here, but it’s almost here
Let me address this now. I hope with all my heart that Kaya and Wagner can play matchmaker for Elsbeth.
Many viewers, myself included, had high expectations in Elsbeth Season 2 Episode 2 when Fire Chief Jack entered our world and Elsbeth’s.
The large mouthful of water gave Elsbeth a look that made her fumble for her consonants. This is my Christmas wish for Elsbeth. She had a reason to stand under the mistletoe.
At least, we know this has nothing to do with the Chicago case that Elsbeth seems to be involved in.
The case didn’t have much traction on the show. The only other episode to touch on the scandal was “The Wrong Stuff,” when Christian Borle’s Carter Schmidt came over from “The Good Wife” to deliver the news to Elsbeth in person .
Hopefully the show will pick up the pace of Elsbeth’s past before it goes on hiatus until after the New Year.
However, I have to say that I don’t think anyone is eager to see Elsbeth separated from her New York team/family, returning to Chicago and dealing with a job that doesn’t seem to let her leave.
Still, no matter what happens, you know Elsbeth will handle it with her unbreakable positivity and big heart to help the innocent. But look how her son didn’t call her for Christmas.
