If you’re like this TV fanatic, you’re addicted to high-potential programming and need a fix. How dare ABC keep our favorite wacky cleaning lady away for an entire week!
All jokes aside, the show does a great job without resorting to crazy gags or overwrought dialogue and plot. The strength of this series is its talent level.
High Potential not only features the incredible talent of Kaitlin Olson, but she is also a creator who has created and been a part of some of the greatest shows and movies in history.
Drew Goddard is the creator of “High Potential” and a writer on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Lost.” If that doesn’t impress you enough, he also wrote The Martian and World War Z. He directed The Cabin in the Woods!
There isn’t a TV fan who doesn’t enjoy one or all of these TV shows, myself included. For good measure, I’ll add a title to his list of creations: Daredevil.
Now, don’t run to his IMBd or Wikipedia page just yet – we have some high potential to talk about!
ABC may be adopting a strategy that other networks like CBS have already adopted
Now that we’ve addressed one of the reasons why this series is so compelling and memorable, we can jump to the next episode! From the looks of it, things are about to get dangerous for Morgan and Karadek.
I’ve frequented a lot of bars in my life, but I’ve never been threatened with a knife for drinking any cocktail. Is there some secret menu that I don’t know about?
Since the first episode of High Potential Season 1, Morgan and her trusted detective partner have managed to avoid dangerous situations despite her lack of self-preservation.
Of course, that’s not saying much since we’re only two episodes into the season. So why did ABC suddenly pause production of its new hit series?
Interestingly, CBS did the same thing after the first episode of Elsbeth Season 1. I mean is this what’s happening now? It better be this way!
High potentials immediately tackle the more lethal aspects of their jobs
As for the knife-wielding attacker in the promo for High Potential Season 1 Episode 3, it was Ck Bolado. You might not be able to tell because he has such a bad haircut in this episode, but he’s a striking guy.
Good looks aside, the actor has only been in the television industry for four years. Now pulling the knife on Daniel Sunjata is a big leap.
So far he’s been in SWAT and That’s It… and interestingly, he’ll be appearing in an episode of the series I’m currently covering, Matlock.
Now, regarding his role in High Potential, he could be a suspect, even the murderer, or it could be a misunderstanding.
All I know is that Karadek’s handsome face is best left alone! Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the victims.
It’s kind of ironic that a stuntman drowned in a bathtub
I don’t mean to be crass, but during the few seconds of the promo, did anyone else notice that the dead man in the bathtub was surprisingly healthy? This is just an observation.
Well, I looked it up and he’s actually pretty healthy because the character was played by a stuntman. If there’s anything I learned from Ryan Gosling on “The Fall Guy,” it’s that core strength is crucial.
Chad Guerrero is probably one of Hollywood’s most prolific stuntmen. The man has scored over two hundred stunt credits and still walks beautifully! It’s both impressive and psychotic.
There’s something ironic about a stuntman playing a character who dies in a bathtub. Since I don’t think he drove a flaming monster truck into the bathroom before drowning, I’ll say his extremely healthy physical condition probably played a role in his casting.
To be fair, Guerrero has had actual speaking roles in a number of other shows, such as Criminal Minds, Archer, and The Good Place.
It’s unclear what happened to his character beyond his death, but judging by the candles, it was either a romantic evening or a ritual sacrifice.
Since “High Potential” isn’t a Ryan Murphy show, this might have been a sexy misstep.
High Potential makes the most of every aspect of its story
Now, what you can’t see in the trailer but do see in the promotional images is the one and only Melinda Page Hamilton! You might ask, “Who was that?” Fair question.
On the other hand, you might say, “Her face looks familiar.” That’s a valid statement, too!
Over the years, Miss Hamilton has appeared on the small screen in shows such as “Grimm,” “Frequency” and “True Detective.”
My favorite Melinda character is Sister Mary Bernard from Desperate Housewives. She plays a deranged nun who slaps Eva Longoria’s Gabby before Sister Mary sets herself on fire. it. Was. Iconic.
I noted the white coat she wore, so we can safely guess she was playing a doctor – possibly a coroner.
Then again, Hamilton’s personality may have nothing to do with being a hottie in a bathtub.
High Potential is making strides in not shelving the case of Moore’s missing ex Roman.
As shown in High Potential Season 1 Episode 2, Captain Selina has begun working on the case of the missing muralist. Let’s hope Karadek and Morgan don’t push each other to the brink first.
Kaitlin Olson plays Morgan, an eccentric genius with a big heart that everyone wants to be friends with
High Potential is still so new that it’s impossible to know where the series is headed. Thankfully, the show is so engaging that most viewers, including yours truly, simply don’t care.
I have to hand it to the writers, directors, actors, producers and everyone involved in this series. The story, dialogue, production and everything in between are expert.
Viewers are seeing a whole new side of Kaitlyn Olsen, and we’re loving every minute of it. From her quick wit and confidence to her big heart to match her big brain, Morgan is the kind of quirky genius you wouldn’t mind calling a friend.
ABC’s High Potential blends Morgan’s work and home life in a refreshing way. Children feel active in the story rather than like props.
Hopefully this well-crafted show doesn’t take too much of a break in its premiere season because I need my fix!
Yes, I know how I sound, and no, I have no intention of doing anything but continuing to watch this extraordinary show. Check out the promotional trailer below!
