Uh-oh, it looks like Madeleine Matlock is going to get some hot water, but the phone call isn’t what you thought. This time, the sound came from inside the house.
Specifically, Marty will talk to her husband about her grandson’s involvement in Madeleine’s grand plan. It seems a bit late to make a fuss now, though.
Since the Matlock reboot, Madeleine’s secret team has consisted of her husband and grandson. No discussion of how things are going?
Considering how much effort goes into planning, they have to cover all possible events and situations, right? We may encounter the first real obstacle in Marty’s plan.
Madeline Matlock is a woman in her seventies, living in the era of artificial intelligence and quantum computers
In a promo for Matlock Season 1 Episode 4, Madeleine calls her grandson while he’s at school because no matter what she does, it’s more challenging than she expected.
Granted, nothing she’s done so far has been easy, but she’s done it with the intelligence and grace of a fox.
Then again, she’s a septuagenarian woman in the age of artificial intelligence and quantum computers. She can explore technology just like the rest of us.
In Matlock Season 1 Episode 3, we see Marty replace Olympia’s computer with a fake one that she pours coffee on to gain access to her emails and files.
Some of you had a pretty good day with this little plot point. A reader pointed out that Olympia’s work computers should have an identifying company code. Additionally, IT departments should not have problems with hard drives.
Hopefully the writers don’t let this slip through the cracks for too long. Another reader pointed out that Olympia’s laptop cannot connect to other devices.
If that’s the case, one of Olympia’s wearable devices or even her phone could alert her that her computer is being used. Matlock viewers are locked into this series with all the missed details.
“This place is a den of vipers”
The information on Olympia’s laptop may not have been enough, and now Madeleine may have to dig deeper into Jacob and Moore’s records. If that’s the case, God bless her.
It was no easy task for Madeleine to move around the office without attracting suspicion.
First up, there’s Mrs. B from Matlock Season 1, Episode 2.
Then there’s Shay. OMG, that jury consultant is practically staring straight into Marty’s soul, just like she was staring into Marty’s soul every chance she got in the last episode.
If that wasn’t bad enough, it seems like something is going to put Olympia in a bad mood in the next episode.
Early in the promo, we hear Olympia say, “This place is a den of vipers.” Those are some heavy-hitting words for where you work.
Granted, the promo is short and Olympia could be talking about anyone or anything without context. She might even just cite the case of the week.
Matlock is slowly but surely revealing how writers choose their cases
The official synopsis for Matlock Season 1, Episode 4 reads: “Olympia asks Marty to get close to their client, who is fighting for justice for his wife’s wrongful death.”
The next episode’s case centers on the previous episodes. While the first two episodes deal with different situations, they mostly revolve around racial profiling.
The third case concerns sexual harassment in the workplace and the treatment of women in general. Each case so far has dealt with a major social issue.
However, this may be the first case to involve a specific type of crime but not a larger issue. Then again, “abnormal deaths” are not uncommon.
It’s also possible that the writers will choose a case that will give Madeline (Kathy Bates) a different perspective or perspective on an issue.
In “A Man Named Greg,” Madeleine delivers a heartbreaking speech in the epilogue about the sexual harassment she suffered early in life.
It’s an incredibly touching scene in which Madeleine reveals the vulnerable details of what happened to her thanks to a man named Greg.
Of course, Kathy Bates didn’t just deliver epic monologues. As her lip trembles during her closing remarks, you can sense she’s finally realizing just how bad things were for women all those years ago.
Daddy Kingston isn’t too happy with Miss Madeleine Matlock
The same is true in the first episode of Matlock Season 1, where a prostitute turns her life around after taking drugs. Madeline has a close personal connection to the case, as the woman reminds Marty of her daughter.
So whatever the details of the next case are, it’s likely to stir something inside Madeleine and connect with her on a deeper level beyond just another work case.
Still, Madeleine may need to worry about getting her house in order before she loses her work-life balance. Kingston’s dad doesn’t seem too happy at the end of the promo.
He can be heard scolding Marty for taking their grandson out of school. I say “scold”, but the promo was probably edited to cause some drama.
I find it so adorable that Madeleine can rely on her grandson so easily. That said, it wouldn’t be healthy for him to get caught up in Marty’s scheme.
It’s cute at first that he’s so invested in honoring his mother, but he’s still in the growing stage. He needs stability and familiarity.
At this point, I can see what Madeleine’s husband was thinking. The child has lost his mother. He didn’t need to see his grandmother arrested for fraud.

Granted, that’s an easy question to answer, since Madeleine’s daughter has been on the decline for some time.
However, if you’ve read about the Matlock twists and turns, you know that we don’t have to worry about unanswered questions when the creators are very vocal about the big mystery revealed at the end of Matlock season 1.
So, all you eagle-eyed viewers out there, we’ll just have to keep an eye out for more possible clues and missing details.
