This is a tense and chilling story that centers on Howard Cottrell, who wakes up paralyzed and unable to communicate, only to find himself lying on an autopsy table.
After being bitten by a snake, he fell into a catatonic state and was mistaken for death. He struggled internally to find a way to show that he was still alive.
This story was first published in King’s Limited Edition Collection six stories Appeared in Robert Bloch’s anthology 1997 mentally ill Later that same year. In 2002, it was included in King’s collection Everything’s Eventual.
This would make a great movie and is currently in development.
