Last week’s cliffhanger left viewers eagerly anticipating Sully’s fate after the dramatic episode. This week’s episode of Sullivan’s Crossing not only answers questions about Sully’s health, but deepens existing tensions and introduces a complex emotional dimension against the backdrop of the impending storm in Nova Scotia .
The episode begins on a tense note as viewers learn that Sally suffered a head injury but will be fine. Laura confronts Maggie about hiding Sully’s potential Alzheimer’s diagnosis and urges Maggie to reveal this disturbing possibility to Sully. His reaction – shaped by painful memories of his father’s battle with the same disease – adds a layer of poignancy to the story, dashing Maggie’s hopes that the prognosis may have been false.

Frank and Edna grapple with the gravity of Sully’s potential Alzheimer’s diagnosis. During this time, Frank attempts to soil Sully’s hospital room, a behavior rooted in his Aboriginal culture, which leads to conflict when a nurse threatens to expel him for not following hospital rules. The author has always been good at highlighting ongoing social challenges and intolerant attitudes towards Aboriginal customs, and this episode really showcases how much work still needs to be done for reconciliation. Meanwhile, Frank reveals to Edna that Sally’s condition has worsened since Maggie’s return and he suspects Sally has been drinking again.
Maggie passes an hour between returning to Boston to start work and wanting to spend time with her father. Maggie asks her boss for extra time, and he reluctantly agrees to give her a week to consider other options. further confirms this dilemma. .

A poignant moment unfolds when Maggie discovers a box of memorabilia in Sully’s closet, including photos of her as a baby and clippings of her professional achievements, suggesting she mistakenly believed he didn’t care all these years she. Maggie also discovers Sully’s AA chip and realizes her father is an alcoholic. She picked up the phone and asked her mother why she had kept the trouble hidden from her for so many years. The psychological damage done to her by her mother and stepfather in trying to keep her away from her father and the crossroads is slowly coming to light. The question remains, how much more truth needs to be revealed before Maggie realizes the truth?
After Carl saves Maggie from a tense situation with the campers, she confides in Carl about Sully’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis and he assures her of the community’s support for Sully. Carl attempts to make Maggie’s life easier by promising to stay at Crossroads and take care of Sully, making her feel at ease about her upcoming return to Boston. The episode deftly intertwines Maggie’s personal history with her father’s hidden past, culminating in a realization sparked by a flashback of Sydney giving vitamins to a pregnant camper. Coupled with the discovery of Sully’s alcoholism, Maggie comes to conclusions about what exactly happened to Sully. As she rushes to the hospital with Carl, Frank secretly helps Sully escape by activating the smoke alarm.

Scott Patterson gives an outstanding performance in this episode, deftly capturing the complex emotions of a man grappling with fear, frustration, and fear of an uncertain future. A harrowing scene in which his hospital roommate goes into cardiac arrest showcases Patterson’s ability to convey Sully’s heartbreaking pain. His portrayal resonated deeply with audiences, allowing them to truly feel and sympathize with the trials and tribulations his character went through.
The Chandons also feature prominently in this episode. A mother from Finn’s baseball team showed interest in Rob, prompting Carl to suggest that he consider dating her. However, Rob hesitates, worried that Finn might not be ready, leading Carl to wonder if it’s Finn who isn’t ready or Rob himself who isn’t. Rob confides in Carl about his past relationship with his wife and questions Carl’s long-term intentions at Crossroads. Finn lashes out at Rob as he becomes increasingly frustrated with his work schedule. In response, Rob asks his ineffective manager Clover to help Finn. The situation escalated when Finn barricaded himself in a restaurant bathroom, prompting Clover to call Sydney, who suggested that Rob be more open and attentive to Finn’s needs. She told him he wasn’t prioritizing his relationship with his son and that needed to change. Meanwhile, Sydney continues to send mixed signals to Love. Rafe tells Sidney that he wants to move beyond friendship, but she tells him again that she’s not ready, leaving Rafe feeling rejected and frustrated. At the end of the episode, Sydney appears to have made a choice about her future, contacting an old modeling agent and asking to return to work.

Finally, while sorting through Roy’s belongings at Roy’s house, Laura discovered a safe containing various documents. Inside, she found an envelope addressed to her containing photos of an accident in which she was hit by a car while riding her bicycle. Lola is disturbed by the discovery and takes the envelope to Carl’s home to enlist his help in tracking down the perpetrators of the hit-and-run to ensure they are held accountable.
This episode is another riveting series that tugs at the heartstrings of viewers while challenging them to think critically about cultural sensitivities, the meaning of family, and the complexities that come with relationships.
